Firearm charge dropped against Guatemalan Nationals
The incident goes back to June nineteenth, 2009, when a nine mm pistol and forty live rounds of ammo were found in a Rodeo SUV in which two Guatemalans were traveling on the Western Highway. The men claimed they were returning to Peten, Guatemala when police detected the vehicle as it pulled off the highway within seconds after passing a checkpoint between Mile thirty-one and thirty-two. Police pursued the vehicle and found the two occupants urinating in the nearby area. They also found the pistol stashed under the headrest and the ammo under the hand rest. Sixteen year old Jorge Ramos was along with the owner of the vehicle Juan Manzanero. This morning, Revenue Magistrate, Edd P. Usher acquitted the men of keeping unlicensed firearm and ammunition after hearing the evidence. In their defense, Manzanero took full ownership of the gun and ammunition and said that his brother had taken the vehicle to run errands and left the items in it. Both men are mechanics and had come to Belmopan to purchase parts. They were heading back to Guatemala when their vehicle was searched.
They pi**ed all over belize, and walked free from weapon’s violation. Is it possible for an ordinary belizean,to have such a simple excuse,to walk free from a weapon violation?First they humiliated some of our B.D.F soldiers, stole our tractor, squat on our land, and now we became the biggest joke once again.Seem’s our country is one big circus, and the politician’s for clown’s,belize the great’s show on earth.
What the hell, our Judicial system did it again. Not too long ago we defended our Judicial system’s decision by detaining an American that was found with hunting Ammos at the Airport. I personally agreed that “Due Process” was rightfully enforced in that case, which I assume applied to these two Guatemalans. Our local citizens are usually being charged and sentenced for very long terms for similar offence. I know that two wrongs does not make a right, but what is the message that is being sent to us and about our Country?. I personally feel like an idiot trying to defend our constitution. Never a dull moment my Beloved People, now I know that they’re all confused with confuscious.
This is Nonsense, that cout system and it’s workers need to get lost.
these guys think we are fools, they come over your border commit crimes and murder and simple cross over their border undected, unless they are paying someone to turn a blind eye.
This s… don’t make any sense. Our ststem is really broken.
Once again Dickie Bradley protecting criminals. Shame on you.
How Dickie Bradley get into this? Jorge is 16 yrs old, which means he is a minor, yet his picture is shown. This might have some repurcusions.
On the other side of the coin, did police check to see if the gun was legal in guate? or maybe it was used in a murder in the area?
ha, try this prank in guatemala and they’ll have you jail with the ms13 and the salvatruchas eating you alive in there with no chance of coming out. but as usual our law and dpp are the same lame group that have us with this situation of crime rate choking us to death.
Our judicial system is really out of order. Money talks. Money Talks. Shame, Belizeans would already been stashed out in a cell if it was in Guate. Anybody can come and do anything they want to do here in Belize. The honest people of Belize are always the looser and victims in their own country. You see the project with Nigel Petillo in Belmopan, if he hadn’t moved in to the land near St Matthews we would have been incurred by Guatemalans. There is a thing called Civil Incursion. People are advised by top rankings of a neighbouring country to take up land in their target country (in this case BELIZE) and they multiply and invite their country people and evntually you have a community with people of the same country. These people are very aggressive and consistent. A Belizean goes to Lands Office to apply for a piece of Land and because he was turned around by the Office people he gives up, but these people will be nagging Lands People until Lands People get frustrated and give them what they want. Shame on our Attorneys they defend all that is bad. If Petillo is said to may have had interest in the land, Men he didn’t took half of all the parcels. Respect…
Don’t hate the PLAYER………. HATE THE GAME!!!!!!! Leave Tricky Dickie alone.
This is not even Dickie’s fault. The DPP is to blame Dickie is just doing his job.
Now check out some crap like that a Belizean would hardly get away with that in Belize much less in Guatemala, I think Magistrate Edd P needs to be transfered to Guatemala or maybe he was just doing his job from orders from above maybe after all there is no independent thinking in the judicial system in Belize or is this another instance of the almighty dollar at work.
