Rudy Youngblood, star of Apocalypto, performs for kids in hospital

rudy youngblood

You may not know the name Rudy Youngblood, but you may be aware of his works.  In 2005 Youngblood made his film debut in Spirit: The Seventh Fire.  He was then cast as the lead role in the film, Apocalypto, which grossed over one hundred and twenty million U.S. dollars. In that film he appeared as Jaguar Paw, the Mayan who escaped from slavery and ran through the jungle to save his wife and child.  Youngblood is in Belize working on a project for television.  He is currently at the Karl Heusner Memorial Hospital giving gifts to the children of the pediatric ward.  Though he portrayed the Maya culture on film, the actor is a Native American.  He played a cultural song on his flute for the children and also performed a native American dance for the kids. Here’s a clip of his performance in the children’s ward.

Youngblood and another actor are working on a pilot for an adventure show called Hook Up.  We’ll hook you up with more on their visit to Belize on tomorrow night’s newscast.

(Love the way the brother bring that indigenous spirit to his role in that Movie). Too bad the
movie focus more on portraying indigenous people as a bunch of savages, blood sacrificing
people, rather than a race of people that have a lot to teach; us so called
modern men, on how to respect, and care for one another, and our Mother Earth.

One Love to the brother YHWH Shalome

  7. Islander says:

No Earl Gray Belizean artists just shoot you in the face inside a club and then come out trying to play like they are some kind of profet and the moronic Belizean media makes them seem as if though they are God’s gift to Belize.

They love giving speaches at schools and using condescending tones like “I could be drinking umbrella drinks in san pedro with Rhianna but I am here so that means I have changed right”. lol

  8. belizeanpride says:

nice idea for artist like him to bring the sense to all that they are the same level like everybody they’re not bragging like some would do. nice move rudy, iveseen the movie, i like it and it’s really interesting to see the lively hood the mayas had even do it depicts more sadness than a beautiful era when they were in their max in life, but i like the movie anyways.
