Viewers give their opinion about wire taps

We have reported about new legislation that will allow for electronic wiretapping of telephone calls. The government claims its one of the measures that can help to weed out criminal elements. But there is also the fear that the privacy of many persons will be at risk. On Tuesday we asked our viewers if they thought that the intercepting of calls will only apply to criminals. Of those who participated in the poll, eight one percent said that the snooping around will not be limited to criminals while nineteen percent were convinced that the new measure will only be applied to criminals. One viewer wrote: “This would be a great idea if our country was not so corrupt”. Send your comments and responses using your SMART phones to 8686 or post your vote on our e-poll at channel5belize.com.
