No love lost or upset stomach between cardiologist and gastroenterologist
Cardiologist John Gough and gastroenterologist Irvin Gabourel, both distinguished Belize City doctors, are tonight free on police bail. As we reported on Tuesday night, hours earlier, the two doctors squared off in an all-out public fistfight at the northern border. Earlier today both men were charged for disorderly conduct after being treated and released from the Corozal Hospital. The scuffle, it is said, stemmed from an article on the internet which Gough alleged was posted by his colleague. The email was widely circulated online and pertained to the beating of sixteen year old Carlos Zelaya Jr., a student of St. John’s College, allegedly by Gough and a neighbor in the Buttonwood Bay area back in February. It is reported that Gough took offense to the content of the email and confronted Gabourel while he was changing currency at the Belize/Mexico Border. A confrontation followed and law enforcement officers stepped in to part the two men. According to Corozal police, since the matter is not indictable the doctors were each granted bail in the sum of five hundred dollars. In the absence of a magistrate, who is currently on sick leave, the men were individually served with a copy of the charge. Gabourel, we were told proceeded with his planned trip away from town. Gough has indicated that he will pursue legal action against Gabourel for the dissemination of the email. Gough was recently in the news for a separate but related incident when he appeared in Magistrate’s Court last week for the beating of Carlos Zelaya Jr.
I hope his bedside manner is a lot more refined than the …….. he keeps letting out.
All this educated …. did was prove what is being said about him, he is a bully. If two grown men with advanced degrees cannot resolve a simple disagreement without resorting to violence, how can we expect our children to behave any different. What is he going to do next? beat up the jury after he is convicted.
I am sick and tired of hearing about these two ……, if they prefer to beat up each other instead of helping patients then I would prefer that the public have no further knowledge of any of their wearabouts, or well being, since they made the decision to become like thugs in public.
Thank you.
Aah, bad boy Gough, you need to mend your ways. Temper tantrums are not good for the heart. You should know that Mr. heart doctor. Clean up your public image. Put together a football league, or a cycling team or any sort of sport. It keeps the heart healthy and the mind in a pacifc mood. You do have a Muhammad Ali strut, but we love you better as a healing doctor. Think about it.
what goes around comes around
Dr Gabourel was tantalize to the extreme, and he reacted just like any other human, even though they are professionals, dr Gabourel is also human, Dr Gough is a bully he thinks he can beat up anybody, he just get a dose of what he did to Carlos, the young man. Dr Gough better step down from the high horse he is riding at the moment, can when the horse jump up you will get a worse fall, cause when you drop pan your backside you when can’t ge up.
I fully agree with the first two statements. These men are supposedly intelligent individuals and this is way they choose to resolve their disagreement? They should both hang their heads in shame. I don’t think anyone would expect to see doctors squaring off in the streets. Isn’t there a code of conduct expected of them (from their professional bodies)? It seems no one has heard of the term “water off a duck’s back”.
I am sure their will be those willing to defend these men actions, but if we want to address violence in Belize, I think these people should be exemplary.
fist fight is better than gun violence….at least they didnt resort to weapons for their fight….
GIVE THEM BOTH BOXING GLOVES AND LET’S GO TO BIRDS ISLE……ding… Round #2!!!
At first when I heard this on the news I thought it was funny…..Dr. Gough finally had someone put him in his place for beat up a teenage. Goooooooooooooo Dr. Gabourel
sad to think that taxpayer’s money was used to educate these two, better screening for BDF scholarship recipients in the furure
Two idle men behaving like children in primary schoool on a friday evening. Maybe there’s not enough work for them to do. Bet you the public hospitals can use their help. MR. MAGISTRATE, PLEASE SENTENCE THEM TO 6 MONTHS COMMUNITY SERVICE AT THE KHMH!
What’s really gone wrong in Belize? My opinion? A serious need of Spiritual rjuvenation. Folks, like the physical body that needs norishmnet to revitalize it daily, so does the intellect and the Spiritual self. After all, as a person thinks so does he/she behaves. The spread of negative energies is similar to that of virous. I casual insight that proves this point, is at a funeral where individuals exprsses their
griefs for the departed person. Unfortunately Belize is ingolf in a negative energies of one kind or the other which causes individuals even of the calibar to be reacting a dispicable manner with little or no regards of the fact that they are looked at by the unfortunate individual of the lower strata of the society as someone that should exibit proper behavour. With such behavour it give excuse for the real tugs to think that their antisocial behavour is normal.
Manford……… I KEEP SAYING THAT THE CHURCH HAS FAILED US…….. Yes they have. Thank you for pointing out BELIZE’S SPIRITUAL DEFICIENCY. THE Christians are not doing GOD’S WORK. As you feed the body……. SO MUST YOU FEED THE SOUL.
COMMUNITY SERVICE ADVOCATE! , excellent recomendation to the Magistrate.
