Michael “Popeye” Foreman back in court on a robbery charge

Michael Foreman

Michael “Popeye” Foreman is a familiar face at the Magistrates’ Court and a common name in the news because of his criminal record. The twenty-eight year old Belize City resident, who already had two robbery charges pending before the court, had a third added to his list today. This time, Foreman’s charges stem from the armed holdup of Jerry’s Store on Central American Boulevard. The owner of the store, fifty-six year old Xiang Jing Lee, says she was ambushed inside the store at around eleven-thirty on August eleventh. According to Lee, the robber grabbed her behind the neck and ordered her to go to the counter and that’s when she noticed another man, who was armed with a handgun inside the store. The two men proceeded to rob the store and made good their escape with four hundred dollars in cash along with a little less than two thousand dollars in electronics and prepaid phone cards. Foreman was picked up later that day and was pinpointed in an ID parade as the first assailant to enter the store.  In court this morning, he was unrepresented and pleaded not guilty to the offense but bail was denied due to the alleged use of a firearm. His case was adjourned until October twenty-ninth of this year. Meanwhile, his accomplice remains on the loose.

WHY WAS HE OUT ON BAIL WHILE HE HAS TWO ROBBERIES PENDING? He’s an obvious danger to the community. Why are most of our judges so weak-kneed and spineless?

  2. Red Bear says:

If the National Assembly will adopt a “three strikes and you’re out” law, at least this vermin would be facing life in prison for his third offense.

    BELIZE NEEDS THAT LAW!

Most people never commit any serious crimes — here is a scumbag whop has THREE separate, pending cases! He robs people so fast and so often, DPP can’t even get him to trial on one before he commits 2 more! Something is seriously wrong in Belize.

  5. island dude says:

You Know, I wonder sometimes if the authorities every read these reviews that are posted every time these horrible crimes occur? I really don’t think so. It’s obvious that Belizeans in general realize the problem but more importantly, realize what is needed to resolve this crime spree problem affecting our Nation. Wake up Leaders and get the job done.

Is he blind in that defected eye? If so, someone should blind him in the next…and the nerves of this man…he just got out of jail just 3 wks ago and already started to run the streets. Happy they caught his a%$, hope this time they keep him in jail for a very long time. We should adopt the 3 strikes rule,a lot of these criminals are repeated offenders, 3 strikes would be perfect for them.
