Multiple charges dropped in court

Alvin Flowers

Leon Ebanks

Two cases before Chief Magistrate Margaret Gabb McKenzie ended with charges being withdrawn today. The first individual who got a ruling in his favor is eighteen year old Leon Ebanks, who was accused of stabbing Owen Jimenez in Mahogany Heights back on September twenty-first, 2009. Ebanks was initially charged with Attempted Murder and Wounding, but today the more serious offense was quashed after the Chief Magistrate received a memo from the Director of Public Prosecutions office stating that there is no evidence that Ebanks intended to kill Jimenez since his injuries were not life threatening. Meanwhile, the charge of Wounding will be dealt with in the Supreme Court on a date to be decided on August twenty-sixth.

The other two persons who got the same judgment are nineteen year old Lane Grinage and twenty-nine year old Alvin Flowers who were accused of pulling off a heist at the Black Orchid Lodge in Burrell Boom. This morning in court, the two accused were freed of the charge because the case file was not available. During that burglary, the proprietor, Douglas Thompson lost over thirty-seven thousand dollars worth of items including jewelry, a laptop computer, a digital camera and four cell phones along with five hundred and seventy dollars in cash.  The burglary occurred sometime between October twenty and twenty-first 2009.

But wait,…………….. if the investigators are not capable of finding evidence to present to the court then why the hell do we expect justice to reign in the court system.

Pardon my ignorance but can someone clarify what they mean by ” a case file was not available”. Do they mean that they did not have a file for that case??? If so OMG is all I can say. The people dealing with this are so incompetent.

  8. Mick says:

The Office of the Prosecutor are to be blamed here people. They were the ones who did not have a file!
To the Prosecutors: Really? How in the world did that happen? Alas, I forget, this is just another day for you all. I seem to remember reading this same script recently! In the 21st century, reason for so case, is the unavailability of a file! Talk about Comic Relief! Except that it is not so funny for us.
