Blood brothers divided by sharp machete

Brian Enriquez

A modern day story of Cane and Abel almost came to a deadly end when one brother pulled out a weapon on his older brother.  A family dispute last Sunday between brothers has ended with the younger brother facing criminal charges and the possibility of spending time behind bars for aggravated assault with a machete. According to Dion Enriquez, the older brother, shortly after one p.m. while at their Petticoat Alley home in Belize City, his younger brother, thirty one year old Brian Enriquez threatened him, grabbed a machete and came after him with the weapon. That was the case before Magistrate Dorothy Flowers this morning when Brian Enriquez was slapped with one count of Aggravated Assault with a machete. According to Dion, Brian approached him and attempted to chop him with the machete but when he flung the blade, it missed. Brian had initially pleaded guilty to the charge of Aggravated Assault but after the facts was read out in court; he told Magistrate Flowers that he did not agree with the statement. Brian said he never swung the machete. With that Magistrate Dorothy Flowers entered an equivocal plea of Not Guilty on his behalf and granted him bail in the sum of two thousand five hundred dollars plus one surety of the same amount. Enriquez’s next court date is set for October first.

Maybe by the time the court date comes up, someone will be wounded or dead & there will be no confusion about what happened. Grown men need their own homes & if alcohol or drugs is a factor, they need to look at what it is doing to them. They should be ashamed.

Dorothy flowers set people free or on bail more than any other magistrates working in that system. I think Dorothy is in the wrong line of work, she along with the police is to blame for many criminals walking free today. crimes will circle the same damn neighbours, or city over and over again, until she get it.

That court system need a good shake-down along with Flowers.

You’re right BZNinCALI. I wonder what kind of degree them magistrates have….

They should learn from the doctors and fight by fist instead. I still don’t know why people think they need weapons to settle differences….

We’re living in the last Days Belize. We don’t even care about our own blood brother anymore. What values are been taught at our homes? What can your brother or sister possibly do to you that you would want to take his life?

A HUMAN LIFE IS THE MOST PRECIOUS THING……..A GIFT!!!! The CHURCHES FORGOT to teach this. THE CHURCHES NEED TO REACH OUT INTO THE COMMUNITY MORE, then maybe we would see LESS OF THIS.

all i can say oh well just another crimes. Will it get solve or will the magistrate let him go, because there is not enough evidence and witness. Let see what happen with this crime. lets be the judge.

  8. Mellow Belizean says:

@ Earl Grey: You’re absolutely right but do the churches still have any influence? Do people even go to church anymore to receive any sort of teaching?
