Serial escapee, Dennis Quilter, back in custody
For more than four months he has remained at large after he broke out of the Hattieville Correctional Facility. And since then he was thought to be back in the United States, but now it is reported that thirty five year old Dennis Quilter was hiding out on Belizean soil all along. The notorious figure, it is believed, was strapped for cash to abscond to America. Well his luck also ran out today as he was recaptured and tonight he is behind bars once again in Hattieville. Quilter was escorted under heavy prison guard to the Belize City Magistrate’s Court and was charged with Escape. But the charge could not be read to him due to an error on the court book and the matter was delayed until August twenty-fifth, when a plea will be taken from him. Quilter, who was on the run for over four months, altered his appearance to conceal his true identity. This morning when he was captured during a search of a taxi on Baymen Avenue, the shirtless Quilter had hair instead a bald head as he did when he escaped. He told police during his capture that his name was Albert Tillett and that he was a Belizean citizen visiting from America. But one of the officers recognized him and he was immediately taken into custody.
Before leaving the courtroom, Quilter asked Magistrate Dorothy Flowers if there is any way he could still appeal a conviction for a burglary in which he was sentenced to twenty seven years, but was told that it’s too late. Quilter escaped on April tenth of this year along with four other prisoners. The inmates gained freedom by cutting the locks to their cells and over-powering the prison officer on duty and then tying him up. Dennis Quilter has as many as four escape charges on his record.
Disrespecting the law, the court and the prison.
give him an additional 12 years in prison for failure to respect the law.
Where is he getting the tools? Maybe our prison officials should read, It Takes A Thief, to catch a thief, put him in his own cell.
I guess he didn’t make it back to the states because no one out here wants him either.
Give this idiot life behind bars.
Dorothy Flowers is riding a high horse.Maybe she’s waiting to become a victim .
I will sit and wait the outcome of this one…
