Tour operator says he’s going out of business because of Carnival/Chukka agreement

yonni rosado

According to Singh there are several independent tour operators including Cave-tubing.com that are successful at securing business without being contracted to any particular cruise line.  However, Yonni Rosado, who owns and operates that company, publicly stated at yesterday’s FECTAB AGM that he is going out of business as a result of the current agreement Carnival has with Chukka/Bakabush Tours. In fact his fears were echoed by a series of testimonials at the FECTAB meeting.

Yonni Rosado, Cave-tubing.com

“I don’t see today as my day of living, I see tomorrow and tomorrow does not look great. If you look back there I brought my team with me because this is the last time they will wear my shirt because business is going so bad we have to close down shop.”

Richard Arnold, Concerned Tour Operator

“The increase is to hurt small operators like myself, small operators like VIV Tours, Tom Greenwood, Yonni. Put the pressure on us, we back out, they take over. When they take over, then they have the game; we’re out and then we will all be just employees working for forty dollars a day.”

Leticia Magana, Concerned Tour Operator

“We dah all tour guides, we dah all Belizean and I would ah we all ah could come together as one and work together as one and tek out Bakabush.”

BELIZEAN CAN BE TRAINED AND EDUCATED as to what needs to be done and how to do it properly. WE NOH STHUPID!!!!

While we may not be stupid, we can sure act stupid. I do not believe that Mr. Singh ever received any dirty money. He spoke the truth.

Every Belizean should be doing all their part to keep tourism coming to our Jewel ! To do just enough to get by until we have to do better is like milking the cow dry then there is no more milk for anyone.

Everyone committing a crime in this country runs away tourist. Every tourist that is robbed or treated bad will talk to others and others will not come. Not every tourist is rich ! They save their hard earned money to be able to take a trip and be treated really good on that trip. The Cruise Ship Companies know that. They will seek out the best for their customers every time! If they are not happy with what they have in tours here in Belize they will take their business else where!

Belizeans need to make a stand, Improve your standard operating procedures. Buy your insurances. 1st class services and customer appreciation . Deal with the crime in our streets.

Blaming the Government for our lack of doing our part to stay competitive in this world is our own fault ! One must study hard in school and work hard in life as well smart. Keep getting knowledge and applying it to your business, save some of your earnings for these things. We elect our officials who run our government, we have the power to make sure they are doing the right thing . We are responsible for our own actions and our own government. We are the government. What are we going to do peacefully and smart to do our part to become competitive in a world tourism market.
