One suspect acquitted while the other goes to PI for murder

Shain Louriano

Rasheed Woods

Two men were charged with Murder after eighteen year old Stephen Grant was killed in a drive-by shooting in 2009. But on Wednesday, one of the accused men was acquitted of the charge. Rasheed Woods and Shain Lauriano appeared before Chief Magistrate Margaret Gabb McKenzie and the prosecutor presented a memo from the office of the Director of Public Prosecutions with instructions to withdraw the charge against Lauriano due to a lack of evidence. Woods, on the other hand, still has to face the music and he comes back to court on August thirty-first for the start of a preliminary inquiry to determine whether or not there is enough evidence against him to commit him to stand trial. Grant, also known as “Eggie” was in the North Creek area on July sixth, 2009 when a blue vehicle drove up and a hail of bullets was unleashed from inside. Grant was hit several times, including once in the head and died instantly.
