Shooting victim, Stephen Buckley needs your help

Many will recall that Steven Buckley was shot during a police operation dubbed “Restore Confidence” on the night of April twenty seventh off Faber’s road in Belize City.  Buckley, who has had a trying time in meeting bills will receive further assistance from Robinson to help him and his family.  But Buckley has always wanted to return to his job as a mason.  While he has surprised many with his swift improvements over the past four months, he still has a long way to go and right now is in need of your assistance in order that he can undergo a series of tests.

Steven Buckley, needs financial help

“This right hand still di give me problems still yet.  Right now I need fi get some x-ray right now fi it and ah noh di get di money fi get it neither.”

I do realized that Buckley is incapable of working at the moment, and that there are bills to pay, and kids to feed.
There is no money going into the home at the moment, and free food and money will not always come or come too late.
why is the wife not looking for a job to help support her family.
she can go to the news station and ask the public for jobs.

@maddyv…, that man was working so hard he was leaving work when that stupid a.. police shot him,. Work is hard to find and it is not his wife duty to go to the media and BEG for help. Its the police duty to HELP the family, there are the one who have him in that situation What the police department should do is stop taking up for there own and be reponsible we need justice in Belize, and if the police department is not showing it then how the hell do we expect better………

The Police shot him & if we believe the Policeman, it was an accident, he was on the job & his employer, the BPD, the GOB & the people of Belize are liable, pay his bills. Dickie, use your connections & that ability to dazzle with BS, this time you even have truth & proof on your side, get this man a commitment from the government to restore him back to as close as he can get to 100% & get him a monetary settlement.

Maddy, get off this woman’s .., she did not bring this on herself. She has a decent man which gave her the option to stay home & raise their children & through no fault of theirs, their circumstances changed, under other circumstances I would agree with you but the police & government must set an example & do right by this man.

This guy got to sue the Police Dept, they already said that they would help him. Where is the help. Start taking money out the Police account or retirement account that he is due. This man is an innocent victim of a Police operation gone wrong. Accidents like that shouldn’t happen biut we have trigger happy cops. Pay up and take responsibility POLICE!

  7. Elgin Martinez says:

The Government of Belize is obligated to support this young man financially. He wasn’t out there stealing. He was out there working to support his family.Respect to the young man Dara for his good intentions to assist this man however the Government needs to take responsibility for this man’s situation. If this incident had took place in any other Country the Government and the Police dept would have gotten sued.

  8. concerncarl says:

i agree with maddy now is the time for her (wife) to do something and Mr. Buckley should talk with a lawyer who is willing to work with him for justice ontil a settlement

Stephen was an innocent man shot by a police officer, and we have all expressed our anger and frustration over this matter.. and it is only fair that he is compensated, but till then, what?

We can continue to blame the police for this unfortunate act till the end of time, this will leave little or no room to do nothing about his situation, reality remains not in the shadows but in the forefront, and they must be responsible for the life they still have.

Bills need to be paid, kids need education, house need food, medical bills need to be paid.who is going to pay this man bills and take care of his family for the rest of his life (possibly) not me and certainly not the rest of us here on this board.

abvioulsy this family need much more than a stay at home mom right now, unfortunate things do happend to people and lives changed, but we need to find solutions, we need to find a way to live, and to take care of our own responsibilites.

She need to get a job until there is stable flow of money going into that household, or beter yet be a working mom.

“Sometimes in life we have to decide weather we prefer to be a victim for the rest of our lives or a survivor.”

Maddy, having spent a lot of time with Combat veterans & their families including those of the deceased, it took time & actually listening to them to move beyond the assumption that we can all pick up the pieces & move on without help. Having a decent education gives some of us a leg up. We are assuming that this woman is doing nothing to try to bring in income. Depending on her skills, her options are limited but what I will tell you I have seen in this area on my visits home & what I know from experience while living there, many women subsidize their spouse’s income by selling food or performing domestic chores for others which does not generate enough to cover what the primary breadwinner’s was making.

When I look at a young man whose father was injured in combat, whose family survived on subsidies for years, who was able to use what little they had to make it to Med School, a Vet who returned from death’s door like Stephen, started with nothing & now has a PhD in Economics & whose wife who was a teen mom now has her Masters Degree. Even though I agree that we should pull up our own boot straps, some people have no boots. & without help would not know where to begin. What Stephen & his wife are doing, by staying in our faces & reminding the Police that they must meet their obligations is the right strategy.

If the Government paying him off, lifts one family out of the cycle of poverty & triggers the need for a better trained Police force, then this was worth it.
