No charges yet for fires that were allegedly caused by arson
One suspect was expected to be charged today for a suspected arson on Petticoat Alley, but today News Five found out that no charges were brought and the person detained was released. The blaze, which was started early on Monday morning completely gutted two houses and scorched several others in the cramped yard. While one of the destroyed buildings was abandoned, the occupants of the other, Doreth Forman and her family, were left homeless. Forman strongly suspects that the fire was started by her ex-boyfriend, who was later detained and then released on Tuesday night.
Police continue to investigate that fire and have a second suspected arson on their hands. It was strikingly similar to Monday’s fire in that it occurred early in the morning and the house that was burned was also located in an alley. Well, here’s another similarity; police have also not charged anyone for inferno, which fire officials believe was intentionally set. Traces of kerosene were found in the rubble that remained at the scene, immediately behind Young’s Law Firm on Regent Street. The sole occupant, caretaker Edward Robinson, was alerted to fire and escaped without injury.
Maybe somebody looking for land and figure out the only way to get it is to make it vacant.
