Also in court, a Salvadoran national who was once employed as a domestic worker was today remanded to the Hattieville Prison after she was denied bail for a charge of Theft.  This afternoon, twenty-five year old Marleni del Carmen Morales was accused of stealing an assortment of jewellery worth over ten thousand dollars from Irma Gonzalez, her employer.  The theft is alleged to have happened between August seventeenth and twenty-sixth.  Gonzalez said the jewelry went missing from inside her bedroom.  In court, Morales was denied bail because her status in Belize is uncertain.  Magistrate Aretha Ford remanded her into custody until September twenty second.  Morales who speaks only Spanish, pleaded not guilty to the charge.

It took nine days for this woman to notice that $10,000.00 worth of jewelry is missing from her bedroom. I smell a rat!

Business people usually keep track of their inventory & will notice almost immediately when an expensive piece disappears. Pricey jewelry should be secured & access limited to people we actually know & trust & bonded or bondable.

atmthis economic times everything is possible. WE MAKE mistakes forgive her and give her another chance and god will recompensate you in another way, we are the same way passing alot of difficult times here in the usa. alot of discrimination is going on against hispanic and we are living like slaves here in the usa. there in no freedom in this country like the way we have in our own country.

it’s pity that this things happen but it’s hurtful when a trusted employee stabbs the employer this way with stealing, let her pay back by working with a minimal pay so as to recuperate the stolen items, if they jail her we’ll pay with our taxes for her time, so let her pay back but deduct from her payment some until she pays the amount said. well this is my idea right? not all immigrants are thief some are so hard working person that we belizeans hate to do they’ll do it. but we need to know the background of a person before we employ them as domestic workers.
