Justin Longsworth survives Victoria Street shooting

The other shooting occurred shortly after three o’clock on Saturday morning on Victoria Street also in Belize City.  And while the victim is already out of the hospital, the bullet grazed him dangerously close to the right side of his head and upper right side of his back.  The twenty-two year old messenger, Justin Longsworth, is the nephew of Lavern Longsworth, the woman who set her common-law-husband on fire.  He told police that he was with a group of friends hanging out under a shed on Victoria Street when a man riding a bicycle from further up Victoria Street stopped in front of them and opened fire at the group.  None of the bullets caused any major harm and by this afternoon Longsworth was released from the Karl Heusner Memorial Hospital. It is believed that he may not have been the intended target. Another man, twenty-four year old Mario Estrada, who suffered a gunshot wound near the right elbow, also had to be treated.  Police have not yet made any arrests in connection with either of the two shootings.

Now we can stop pretending that violence is a south side problem. Maybe there was no reason for the shooting other than a pissed off, tired neighbor who could not sleep because these men were up at 3AM & fear has eliminated conversation.

lets hope that the victim was indeed not the intended target, or I would have to suspect a retaliation here.

    who lives in that house?

why question is why these youths hang out in the early hours? shouldn’t they be at home sleeping peacefully than risking their skin on the streets, they also have to think about their safety, if they know how city life is with so many crimes. in such hrs i think anybody can be a target .

Shooting aside, I hate to see those old homes falling apart. Wish we could’ve been more vigilant about historical preservation in Belize City.
