Convicted child molester, Lee Henkis, strikes again?

Another young student has become the victim of sexual abuse; this time it’s a nine year old boy. Forty-two year old Lee Henkis was charged this morning for the heinous crime. Henkis appeared before Senior Magistrate Sharon Frazer to be arraigned on two charges; Committing an Unnatural Crime and Grievous Harm. No plea was taken because the case will be dealt with at the Supreme Court. The prosecutor, Sergeant Hector Rodriguez, also objected to bail because it is a sensitive case, considering the child’s age and that Henkis has a previous conviction for a similar offense. The alleged incident is said to have occurred on July fourth, but was not reported until eighteen days later on July twenty-second. The boy told police that he visited Henkis, whom he knows only as “Mister”, and the man sodomized him. A doctor later classified injuries the child received as grievous harm. Henkis was a part of an identification parade on Monday and that’s when his alleged victim pointed him out. He was convicted in 2002 of the same offence and was sentenced to eight years, but did not serve the full jail term and was released. As he headed back to prison today, Henkis asked the magistrate to have him placed under protection because he fears for his life but she could make no guarantees. His next court date is October twentieth.

Injustice in Belize is unbelievably high.
This man has a record of hurting children and was convicted in 2002, and sentenced to eight years in prison, yet he did not served the maximum time. He should have done his time in jail and then sent to a mental hospital for the rest of his sorry life.
This mentality insane monster was sent out on the streets again to commit the same heinous crime against another child. (What about the cases that were not reported) this was not his second time, he is sicko. Blame the court, F….. the magna Carta.
Why was the case not reported sooner by the parents of this child, what the …. is wrong with some parents in Belize.This case might just end up like the others, poor, uneducated mother took bribe to drop the case.
Then this sick black …. think he has the right to ask for protection, because he feared for his life. Do not send this monster back to jail that will not cure his appetite for little children, remove his ugly head with a dull axe.
Wah, wah, wah. Poor baby. Protect him from the fellows who might sodomize him. He’s a big boy, he can pull a train & handle a few men boxing his ears. I hope his previous conviction is taken into consideration when this predator gets convicted or he’ll be back to the SOS in a few years.
I wonder how many of the angry young men walking the streets of Belize, were raped by this beast. Someone needs to talk to every single mother he befriended & If they can, the neighbors should give the police the names of the children they saw going in & out of this man’s home. I still want to knock some sense into the victim’s mother but I am grateful she came forward.

He was charge before with a similar crime & only got 8 yrs? he didn’t even spend the whole 8yrs in jail,he had an early release. Now this child molester strikes again, will be in jail and wants protection? This sick …. has change that little boy’s life forever, and I know with our weak … justice system this man unfortunately will be back out on the streets again in a few years. I hope for the time he’s in jail those guys back there beat him good everyday.
Why doesn’t the GOB have a registry for sex offenders or a website with photographs of these predators where the Belizean Citizens can identify them?Come on Mr Barrow start doing something for the Belizean people.

If something like that happened to my kid, a guy like that would not end up in court. I can guarantee that. Castration takes 5 minutes, and would be a better solution.

Since we all know the justice system and the so called Government is not in place to protect and help the citizens of Belize, why aren’t these parents teaching their children to be more careful and aware when dealing with strangers, first of all why did the child even go into a building with a stranger he didn’t even know his name. Teach your children to scream scratch bite do whatever will bring peoples attention to what is happening. Mother’s teach your children that material things are not important and why didn’t the parents go to the police the same day it happened. Come on parents start protecting your children there are evil all around Belize start being PARENTS that is your job and it is the most important job you will ever have so pleas please start being better at it.
As far as the animal I would not wish him to be raped in prison because obviously he will enjoy that and I would only want to wish pain on him not pleasure so I suggest they cut a piece of his …. off inch by inch daily not all at once make sure after each cut some acid is applied to the wound that to me would be just punishment. I agree with a lot of the comments. Belize needs to register sex offenders n let people know when one lives in their area. Y aren’t we protecting our children.
This man should have never been left to roam the streets n catch another victim, he should b given the maximum sentence n serve the full time this time. We cannot tolerate the raping of our kids, literally or any other way.

Imagine with all the unthinkable crimes being committed in our Belizean society, some parents, namely some mothers, don’t feel the need to protect their children. Day after day i’d walk the streets and see some children begging for money or something to eat….where are these children mother. Mothers are the key to the destruction that is plaguing our society. Yes, worldwide the scope of the society and childrearing has changed…….mothers have to work but we are still responsible for our children safety. Responsible for knowing where and with whom our children are with at all times. Some women just leave their young children to roam the streets and hussle for themselves…….what kinda love is this showing these kids? How can we mothers leave our teenage children to do as she/he pleases, coming into our homes any hours of the night and upholding them in criminal activities. Being a mother means protecting your children. Teaching them respect means setting rules in your home.

I definitely agree with what is being said about this beast. I think the suggestion of a sex offenders register put forward by Edith and others is long overdue in Belize. The courage this boy and other children have in coming forward and reporting that they have been violated and betrayed by adults around them should be commended. I hope they are able to receive the care (both physical and psychological) they will need to recover from this and go on to become fully functional and productive citizens.
One thing I will say is that I don’t think it is helpful to associate every news item with politics. Paedophilia has been with us since the beginning of time. This person was previously convicted and sentenced to eight years imprisonment for raping a child in 2002, which was under the previous administration. From this report it is unclear when he was released, all we were told that he was released early. The point is people with this evil intent will do so whether regardless. What should happen is that once these individuals are convicted and have served their prison sentence, there needs to be a system of continued supervision and monitoring of them, as they are usually serial offenders. Therefore to prevent these sex offenders going underground and to protect our vulnerable children, the community needs to know where they are at all times.

I received information last night from a reliable source there in belize that this monster is still alive, spending the last couple of days eating three meals a day, and asking for protecting which the tax payers have to pay for. I am totally against him eating human food and breathing the air good people are breathing right now.

The point is not weather paedophilia has been around for centuries in our society, (that is common knowledge today) or that this monster was not the first in belize to commit an act so disturbing.
A black man commited this specific act to a specific child which is what this specific report is based on, are you all blind?

Based on where this man lives & his last name, I think we need to look further into his background. Almost 40 years ago, a standard 6 student with the same last name was impregnated. Every one of us who knew her suspected that an adult inside her home was the culprit, she was not a bad child.
This man needs to be in jail & held responsible for his actions but if he comes from that family, this abuse & possibly incest has gone on for more than a generation & we need to address it if we want break the cycle. By the way there are other races in their background & they originally came from Cayo, we may want to find out why they left for the city.
While I mostly suppose a detachment of the chairperson and CEO is a serious thing, particularly in public companies, it is not a solid answer to set 2 people of analogous ages, large egos and significant ambition in this kind of place relative to each other. They state a camel is a horse planned by a committee. This is a two humped camel.
