Cheese stealer pleads guilty

While Daniel Ku was found guilty of murder up north, two men did not waste the court’s time and pleaded guilty to separate charges in Belize City. The first is a well known recycler from Vernon Street who was caught shoplifting at Save-U Supermarket on Thursday. Fifty year old Mervin Swift was charged with Theft after he was seen on surveillance video stealing cheese which was found on him when he was searched by the security guard. He pleaded guilty and told the magistrate he didn’t know why he did it, but he knows it was a mistake. He was fined five hundred dollars plus court costs to be paid by October thirty-first.
The other guilty plea came from twenty-seven year old Marvin Espinosa, who took the rap for marijuana found under his mattress during a police raid on Thursday morning. He was jointly charged with his common-law-wife, Hettie Yearwood, for Drug Trafficking but Espinosa pleaded guilty to the lesser charge of Possession, claiming that he used the drugs for his asthma. The plea was accepted and a fine of six hundred dollars was imposed. The charge against Yearwood was withdrawn and she was freed.

Dammm, hard times are really here…..last week a lady was charge for stealing some groceries, this week another one was charge for stealing CHEESE. What’s next…rice, some chicken, noodles,cornflakes, underwear????

we need to provide more jobs for our people. You work and get a small salary and the price for goods and services are so high you cant afford it.
Instead of imposing a fine why not community service. Certainly things r really frustrating in bze. Guess what the court or them criminals on power they should b brought 2 justice 4 stealing peoples money both the c.o.p.s and the politicians.along with the d.p.p.4 being accomplise of all of them

Mervin, that’s one expensive piece of cheese. You’re old enough to remember when we could almost see through that slice of cheese we bought at the grocery store that our parents then cut into little pieces to share amongst the kids. Sometimes you have to eat your johnny cakes & fry jacks so so soh.
If this dumb… should have known that cheese cost way less than court time, and for espinosa, Asthma? where is the proof of asthma from your doctor.
legalize marijuana and leave these people alone for f…. sake. There are worst people out there commiting worst crimes than stealing cheese, and stashing marijuana, but I get the point of petty crimes in the news, this way we get to forget about the big dogs.
