U.S. Unmanned Aerial Vehicles crashes

The United States Army is testing two Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAV) in the Cayo District.  The YMQ-18A /FORESTER, which is essentially a remote controlled helicopter, reportedly crashed while attempting to land at the Central Farm Airfield.  A release sent from the U.S Embassy says that no injuries or fatalities resulted from the accident and the cause is under investigation.  Remaining test flights will be determined pending results of the investigation.  The forty-five day testing of the UAV began on August first, 2010. The flights are conducted with input from the Civil Aviation Authority at a safe distance from populated areas.

  1. MADDYVANDIJK/DEREALIST says:

Another reason why unmanned helicopters are better than pilots, but still lucky there were no land fatalities this time around.

  2. Elgin Martinez says:

Make sure that these unmanned Aerial vehicles are tested in Barrow’s back yard.

  3. rod says:

see i told you all this would happen only by the grace of god did this helicopter not fall on a belizeans home i told you all thats why they are testing it in belize because thay cant do it in the us so they would prefer to kill belizeans, and this gov would also be to blame because they are allowing it this gov and this pm cares nothing about the belizeans and their lives.

  4. Proud says:

There you go again, Rod. It seems you have a personal agenda against this government. Belizeans elected this government. You should at least have some respect even if you dont support them.

It is healthy to make criticism but objective criticism is of utmost importance.

  5. joy says:

LET THE american do the testing in their home not Belize

  6. Robert says:

Let the Belizean government use this technology to stop the border crossing drug dealers. They probably account for most of the violence and crime in what is actually a peaceful and industrious nation.

  7. rod says:

yes proud wasnt it you who said their isnt anyhomes in the pine ridge also and that this was safe and i told you thats why they cannot do this in the us because they banned them from doing it in the us i told you this would happen and so said so done and yes it is a personal agenda to get this useless gov and pm out of office ,he is selling out belize to the us judas barrow is selling us out but maybe next time it will fall on a belizeans house then what are you going to say proud. this gov and pm are useless , economy in the drain, crime way way out of control ,corruption rampant, tourism in the drain, education in the drain, unemployment higest its ever been in belize period, not one good thing has come out from this gov. and i didnt vote for this gov. you did proud well i hope you proud a they because they are the worse gov in the history of belize and getting worseeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee.

  8. macal rivera says:

its a pity all this went to …, this helicopter could have help in the search of the two lost children from PG.

  9. rod says:

tell them elgin make them hear you again especially proud he is so proud of his pm uselessssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssss.

  10. Rizzo says:

Wow Rod, you are useless as your spelling and grammar. Maybe you should try a figure out why they were in Belize first before you comment. It’s a joint effort between the US and BDF to assist with the drug trafficing due to the heavy vegetation/forrest. These unmanned aircrafts have saved thousands of lives and busted many drug trafficking within Mexico, Guatemala, Central and South American countries. I do agree with you that our government needs to go but if it wasn’t for the US Belize would be part of Guatemala by now. All the treaties are signed in DC and the support of the US if anything should happen. As an FYI if anything should happen to Belize the US would be there first before any other country, guaranteed!

  11. Global Perspective says:

Proud: I will tell you that I realise that this forum provide a place where small minority spread their own political agenda. Therefore regardless of the news item they are supposed to be commenting on, they will take the opportunity to write absolute garbage, nothing constructive or informative, just poison. They show no respect for anyone, therefore there is seldom an opportunity to have a debate. We will always have different point of views but it difficult to debate with someone who doesn’t want to do so. This article stated that no one was harmed, it stated that the flights are conducted in safe distances from populated areas, yet we get these comments. I agree with you, we should call our government to account and be objective with our criticisms when necessary. Unfortunately this is very difficult for many Belizeans to do as they are indoctrinated.

  12. WILLIAM FRIDA says:

I would like to inform Joy and others why the US army is testing these aircraft’s in Belize.

    1. This aircraft is being tested in humid climate for variances in engine speed
    2. Unlike other central American countries Belize is a english speaking country therefore
there is better communications between civil aviation personnel and military personnel, when testing aircraft.
    3. The BDF is getting training in unman military aircraft
    4. testing of unman aircraft in the US is not band(FALSE)
    5. read answer (1)

  14. Don Pepe says:

Why the hell those the GOB allow these testing here in Belize, I like what Elgin said, let them test it on Borrows back yard,. U.S. test it in you own land.

  15. MADDYVANDIJK/DEREALIST says:

    Proud, well said.

That is why it is called “TESTING” sh… like this will happen.
Stop blaming the …… GOB for everything that is happening in belize today, this is sick.

  16. macal rivera says:

  17. Elgin Martinez says:

Macal rivera: Who else are we suppose to blame? Come on now Macal this man dah the head a we Country.Just like in a household if the kids misbehave who is suppose to bring back order in the house? The mother or the father who is the head of the household.

  18. Elgin Martinez says:

ayeyayai:Every tax-paying Belizean has the right to hold Mr Barrow accountable for what is going on in the Jewel.Holding public office is not all about the Luxury or drinking Ballys you’ve got to drink bitters sometime.

  19. rod says:
