Sour oranges in citrus industry as two board members resign
There’s more trouble in the Citrus Belt. For months the embattled Citrus Growers Association and its subsidiary, the Citrus Products of Belize have been battling over investments in the C.P.B.L., which is owned by both the CGA and Banks Holdings. That issue has now come full circle for the new board of the C.G.A. Less than two months after being re-elected to the C.G.A. committee of management, board members Charles Woods and Richard Polack today formally tendered their resignation. A third resignation is expected from Chairman Bryon Bowman. The notice came after several weeks of failed negotiations to carry out the mandate of its membership to enter into formal discussions with Banks Holdings that would lead to the acquisition of their shares. According to Woods the committee would not yield to the request of the growers and in the best interest of what is right, the trio has decided to step down.
Charles Woods, Former Chairman, CGA Committee of Mgmt.
“This comes after a meeting yesterday that we had of the committee of management where for the last three or four weeks, the three directors who are stepping down or who are resigning have tried but have failed to changed the direction of the committee of management with regards to its relationship with Bank Holdings Limited who is our investment partner in our investment at C.P.B.L. as well as a general direction on how the industry should be handled with that subsidiary, C.P.B.L. We have a fundamental difference of direction and we have been unsuccessful in changing the minds of the committee of management, myself as chairman accompanied by the other two directors who have also resigned. We feel that the course of action that the committee of management is about to take is not in the best interests of our Citrus Growers Association, of the members themselves, of C.P.B.L. which we own fifty-one percent and for all stakeholders. It is not in the best interests of all stakeholders in the industry which includes the customers of C.P.B.L., the creditors of C.P.B.L. and everybody else who has a stake in C.P.B.L.”
While Woods says he is not at liberty to disclose which direction the committee of management is heading in he did admit that it is in contravention of a resolution taken by the CGA’s membership.

There are some of us who know the truth, and also the manipulation of the board members by the powers that be. Those who have said that they have the treatment for the Citrus Greening. Where the world have not found a solution for Citrus Greening, it has been found here in Belize by business men and they have prefer to make a little profit selling a treatment that doesn’t work, at the detriment of the whole citrus industry. So they held back while in power and now more than a year has gone, and no action was taken. The same people who have Brian Bowman in the palms of their hands.
Why does everything in Belize seem to be a problem. Tourism industry – problem, Sugar industry – problem, marine /fishries- problem, oil – problem, football- problem, I can keep going …… .
Something Wrong!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Shame on you Chuck Woods…..you know what you are saying is not the truth. But with all of you who are bought by big bucks and promises…CGA and CPBL will survive, you know why? Because GOD no like UGLY!!
It’s time to ask some tough questions to CGA’s committee of management. How much has been spent on Legal Fees and where is that money coming from? How is it that Denzil Jenkins, the biggest adversary of ‘incestous relationships’ gets to sit on all three boards (ICL, CBPL, CGA)? What is the agenda of the CGA….to work in the best interest of ALL stakeholders or just a few people who want to come in and suck the life out of CPBL? And what about Henry Anderson being the CEO designate?? Denzil Jenkins and his puppets in the management committee do not care about this industry….their thoughts and actions have all been self-serving. I will continue to pray for the Citrus Industry and all of its stakeholders to fight this infiltration of greedy individuals who hunger for power.
