Who’s Who in the P.U.P.

There will be no challenges to any of the major posts in the new executive of the opposition party. The deadline for submission of names was this past Monday and from what we know, John Briceño’s leadership will go uncontested.  In the case of the deputies, Dan Silva from the west and Francis Fonseca from Belize City will retain those posts. One of two remaining seats was offered to Mark Espat and Cordel Hyde, that was declined but latest word is that there is indication that they want to re-engage. In any case, one of those seats is likely to be held by a Belize City based standard bearer. As we told you weeks ago, the chairmanship has been brokered and will be filled by Henry Charles Usher to replace Carolyn Sandiford Trench. Luke Espat has also settled for Operations Manager so Senator Eamon Courtenay will continue as National Campaign Manager. Julius Espat will remain as Treasurer and so will Narda Garcia as Communications Director. The other significant change will be the replacement of Bill Lindo as policy and reform director. That is being worked out and it appears that a new face will emerge in that post. There are still discussions ongoing but the intention is that the executive will be voted in by acclamation other than election at the national convention in Dangriga on October seventeenth.  Up to news time, there is still no clear indication from the Espat and Hyde camps on whether they will personally participate in the convention or mandate their delegates to attend as they did in the last national convention in 2008 when Briceño was elected leader. That’s the way it is for now.

It’s a joke for PUP to “demand action on crime.” They lost because they were even worse than UDP! And with ALL the same leadership, we would be insane to expect a different result. It will take 30 years to pay off the money stolen by PUPs when they were in power.

  2. Sonia says:

Until the PUP stand up and support UDP we will continue to see crime across our country even here on the islands. After all, why would PUP want to, as it serves them well, since it shows that Mr Barrow is not worthy of the position of Prime Minister. Mr PM I want you take a stance and become brutal against these people who continue to terrorise our nation. The longer you take to act, the longer innocent people suffer, the more incapable it makes you look and the more the whole world see us a bunch of brainless, trigger happy, drug smuggling, criminals and why would any one want to visit us? You cannot and will not restore Belize, Mr PM until you find to root cause. Have you considered that your enemies are working to undermine you by actively working these fools and look at who is suffering? Children, your own people, your friend, your neighbours, people that look like you, just look in the mirror. Wake up MR BARROW and address your domestic crisis before it gets any closer to you. The people call for your invention and now the time is now. The immediacy of this issue lead me to call this operacion: “Codigo de color rojo”.
Pardon the pun! And for the PUP, organised yourself and work with this man as it benefits all of us, we really don’t want people to start turning their back on Belize. There are many other peaceful countries they can go instead of Belize so all of us will suffer.

W e need a strong leader one who cares about his people one who will bring back the death penalty hanging for any murderer and hard labor for all the rest put them to beautify the country cutting grass cleaning up the city and so on instead of sitting in the jail smoking weed and getting fat off the hard work of the belizean people this will come to a head believe me sooner than later and you will be escorted out of the country like zelaya was in honduras I SAY OUT WITH BARROW OUT WITH BARROW OUT WITH BARROW WORSE PM IN BELIZEAN HISTORY SINCE IN OFFICE ECONOMY IN THE DRAIN, EDUCATION IN THE DRAIN, EXPORTS IN THE DRAIN, IMPORTS IN THE DRAIN, CRIME WAY WAYYYYYYY OUT OF CONTROL CORRUPTION RAMPANT AND HE KEEPS APPOINTING JUDGES WHO ARE NOT QUALIFIED FOR THE JOB ALL OF HIS FRIENDS IN OFFICE WORSE GOV IN THE HISTORY OF BELIZE MAKES ME SICK.

am with u rod Great idea bring back the the death hanging penalty , that wouild send a strong message to all theses senseless killers……as to your comment Robert….. PUP and UDP same … ..we need NEW leadership !!!!

  5. El's says:

Continue uniting PUPs……..Belizeans will wait for you to save this country from the downhill path it is going…..

  6. Cutty Ligiyaba says:

Some Democrats, some Republicans, have become independent which is the same as when

a UDP or a PUP decide to go independent or form a new group–I can see Belize with a

President running the small paradise whilst he or she is working with both UDP’s and PUP’s.

Belize cannot wait and continue in its old stock ways. Belize has a lot to offer its citizens and the

world- but first and fore most the government must inspire its citizens. The country is so small

with unnecessary problems. I can see Belize as a place of education and advancement in

future technology. Back in 1936 in a Seattle USA fish and timber town they started to build

airplanes and these people became responsible for building the bomber for Hiroshima and

Nagasaki. People can be inspired and they can do great things. There need to be a new day in

Belize. I know that Belize is not at war but there are other economical and beneficial ventures

that can jump start the new change for Belize like, agriculture and improve education on

agriculture, knowledge about the importance of imports and the control of exports. Necessary

steps should also be taken into the accountability of the street youths country wide. They are

important human resources and can be given a fair chance to give back to Belize. There is no

reason why Belize should not engage into the enlistment of

every child male and female into a uniform body if that child cannot afford secondary or

higher levels of education. pedagogical–trained teaching…
