Body found off Hummingbird Highway identified

edgar david gonzalez

The body of the man that was discovered on Monday morning has been identified.  He is Edgar David Gonzalez, a resident of Santa Elena Town, Cayo. Gonzales left home on August eighth en route to his work at the BWEL Gas Company in Belmopan but he never arrived. Three weeks after his disappearance, Gonzalez’ common-law-wife, Maria Ochoa made an appeal on this station for the public’s assistance to locate him, who was the provider for their five children. He never returned and at around eleven on Monday morning, workers from Cave’s Branch near mile thirteen on the Hummingbird Highway went through a dirt road about a mile further up to cut sticks and stumbled on the decomposed body in a creek.  The post mortem examination certified that he died from a fractured skull caused by a blunt blow.

The horror of it, most of us believed he was dead when the story of him being missing aired. At least now his wife & children know he did not abandon them.

Sad indeed! This fellow worked hard, always hustling to provide for his 5 children. So sad because his children are very small in primary school yet. I can see the poor mother everyday as she crosses to San Ignacio to accompany her children to school and struggling with a baby from a hanging bag around her shoulders. What will happen to that poor family. I hope people who see them all the time can assist them with anything they can. The children go to St. Andrews School. May he rest in Peace. At least he has gone to rest now its his poor family who must struggle to move on.

PRAYERS GO OUT TO THE FAMILY.

my condolence to the family and my request would be that families like these the gov. should help them for a start up of new life, like assist the kids in their school needs for a period of time so as to let the mom regain time to start a different life with a husband, this is where the gov. can assist people like these so needed, not meaning to mantain them forever but to help them restart a new life with a father/husband.
