Operation Jaguar pounces on teddy bear and claws out cash

andrew talbert

Since the beginning of the month the Belize Police Department has kicked into overdrive embarking on a series of joint operations to tackle crime in the city.  Information from the department is difficult to come by at times but today an update was issued to the media of operations undertaken primarily by Eastern Division.  Various personnel including those from Operation Jaguar, the Anti Drug Unit, Special Branch and the Gang Unit descended upon known criminal elements that were subsequently charged for various offences.  Among them was Andrew Talbert who was charged with fire arm offences after being busted with an arsenal of weapons including an Uzi submachine gun, a thirty-eight revolver, and several live rounds.  Also arrested earlier this month was Marcello Reina who was charged with money laundering after he was found in possession of seventeen thousand U.S. dollars stuffed inside a teddy bear.

That’s a good start, focus on the known career criminals and hound them until they are put away someplace so deep and dark that they have no hope of getting out. One by one, until they are ALL gone from the face of Belize.

  2. BZNinCALI says:

I hope we are able to confiscate ill gotten money & use it to help fight crime.

Who does Talbert live with & why are they not being charged?

  3. MADDYVANDIJK/DEREALIST says:

We don’t have to waste time on focus or stalking these predators, because as far as I am concern these animals have enough “wrongs” stack up against them that only death might set them free.

WE INSULT THE ANIMALS……………WHEN WE CALL EVIL PEOPLE ANIMALS.

    ANIMALS DON’T ACT LIKE THAT…………

  7. Earl Grey says:

AN UZI SUB MACHINE GUN??????…………….. That’s more fire-power than the police.

    ARE THE COPS ……………………OUT GUNNED??????

  8. Cynthia says:

This is JUST PLAIN WRONG info! The Uzi machine gun was found in an empty lot along with a 38 Special Revolver Taurus Brand and 24 9mm rounds. Andrew Talbert, according to Channel 5’s own archives, was arrested after he tried to rob a man inside the Queen Square market. Two separate incidences. My point is that Police have no idea about the source of the Uzi…well, at least they pretend not to know.
