One of two men who robbed a security guard last week at the Belize Medical Associates was today escorted to face the music in court. Twenty-six year old Bryant Gentle was arraigned on four charges: Robbery, Possession of an Unlicensed Firearm, Possession of Unlicensed Ammunition, and Wounding. According to the security guard, Paul Valerio, he was on duty at the hospital last Thursday afternoon when two youths entered the building. He said that the two first went to the reception area but suddenly turned toward him and held him at knifepoint. He told police that they overpowered him and took away his point thirty-eight caliber revolver, which contained five live rounds and was worth fifteen hundred dollars. Police who were on patrol swiftly apprehended Gentle on Chapel Lane. He was found with a gun, a black cap and a knife. While police continue to look for their second suspect, Gentle has been denied bail and is due back in court on October twenty-seventh.
Mr. Security Guard, you should familiarize yourself with the gun, and in cases like this, do the magistrates and police a favor (and yourself). Put a red dot on the forehead, it’s justifiable.
They have robbed each other, retail businesses, the Social Security Office, the banks, Wesley church, now the hospitals need additional security to protect the security guards & their patients. I know this is only a property crime but he does not need bail & a speedy trial & lengthy sentence can only help.
These people truly are animals.
We would only be honouring god’s wish, if we end this …… life right now before he hurt someone.
PLEASE START CONVICTING THESE PEOPLE BELIZE. THEY DON’T CARE ABT BELIZE OR BELIZEANS SO Y SHOULD U CARE IF THEY LIVE OR DIE! We need to start locking these guys up n throwing away the key. We need to convict n uphold the convictions. We can’t move forward as a nation if we have all these stones holding us back.
For the record these people r not animals, they r a breed of their own, with no regard for human life, the r not monkeys, they r not dogs, they r not baboons, they r the sons n daughters we r breeding n will continue to breed until we put our feet down n start setting better example n start holding every single one of them accountable for their actions.
Its really sad sad when i hear about the level and kind of crimes happening in our very small poor country. i am currently studing in Taiwan and tune into channel 5 shows all the time including the news. its so sad when i read this story and the comments behind certaine crimes. I resppect all because they are people’s opinion and its good to observe one’s country through someone else’s eye. In this particular case with this robbery tis guy has tried all avenues to make it, he has the skill to do tremendous stuff, i know him very personally but with nothing provided for the youths to do i can clearly see how he ended up attempting to rob a gun. I am quite upset because i know if i had the opertunity to help with assistance from the goverment and the right minds that truly know what is necessary to help our people we would have or might have been in a better place, i say that because we cant predict the future. one time myself went to a particular minister asking for some support to start something in my comunity and was laughed at because i was only 18yrs old at the time, i wasn’t taken seriously, but i could have seen the trend of crime and idel youths developing, this is one of the main reason why a struggled to get where i am to do some studies hoping to the go back to the drawing boards and do something to help, it not been easy for me also i can say that, but like the saying goes ” once one makes it we can make it working together” so we got to start doing something positive and stop just the talking or we can’t blame the criminal we must blame ourselves, thank you.
I think life too sweet at Kolbe don’t they have outbreaks of ‘food poisoning’ there??? Maybe a few of these known criminals can suffer a bad case of ‘food poisoning’ back there. One less mouth for taxpayers’ money to feed. The criminals go to Kolbe, sit while our money takes care of them and then they get out and do the same thing and worst again.

I think the important thing u r forgetting is that u dont represent urself or other miinsters, you are representing the citizens of this country but clearly ur turning a deaf ear to them until when we wake u up. and kick u out… think about it………

Blame it on the politicians, corruption trickles down they are responsible for the corruption in the police department the customs department where all the drugs enter Belize and disappears and all other dirty branches of government including the lands department which is their reservoir for the carrot they place at the end of the stick to buy votes and this does not only go for the present government but the past one also it’s a pity that the citizens of our country have to resort to a criminal life in order to sustain themselves but the example is set from above and they just follow.

All this arable land…. all these prisoners sitting down getting fat and thinking up more wickedness at the Hattieville Ramada and so much of our babies going to school AND bed, hungry. Yet, the powers that be cannot make the connection and make it happen.
Please do me a favor partner, because I don’t know how much of what is written in this forum those knuckleheads read. But, could you put that idea in writing and send it to the Minister responsible for prisons with a copy to the PM??
Since it is all too obvious that they could not care any less about poor people, maybe it’s us down here that have to take the lead and show those in authority, the way.
THE WORD IS THAT ALL THE SECURITY GUARDS FAKE THESE ROBBERY WORK ALONG WITH THE SUSPECTS AND COLLECT MONEY. BY DOING THIS THEY DO NOT HAVE TO PAY FOR THE GUNS.MAYBE THIS ONE WAS REAL. IT HAPPENED BEFORE. I WAS IN A BANK IN BELIZE THE SECURITY OFFICER GOT SO CARELESS BEND OVER START TALKING TO A YOUNG LADY WITH HIS BACK TURN ANYONE COULD HAVE WALK UP AND PULL HIS GUN.
