Scotia Bank Robbery suspects killed in Honduras

On Tuesday night we reported on an alleged incident in which Belizeans may have been killed in Honduras.  According to reports, three men who were detained in connection with a robbery of Scotiabank’s Spanish Lookout Branch back on March thirtieth were caught up in the incident. The three men identified as Juan Salazar, Benjamin Peters and Alexander Edwards were apprehended for the robbery, in which the bank’s security officer was killed and over three hundred thousand dollars was stolen. According to a report, a San Pedro Sula bus was hijacked by robbers in which the three men were travelling.  It is reported that Edwards and Peters were both killed while Juan Salazar survived.  The mother of Benjamin Peters has travelled to Honduras to identify his body. Relatives of Edwards are also said to be en route to identify his body.  The father of Edwards, who is a resident of San Pedro, Ambergris Caye, apparently fell ill this morning after hearing that his son passed away and may have already been buried. Edwards has also been named in a triple murder in San Pedro on February third.
