Scotiabank donates computers to schools
It’s the age of technology, so the World Wide Web is the place to go for information and research. The internet is a necessary place for business and it is also a cool place for social networking across the globe. Most schools have established computer labs or resource centers with internet access. But computers, their accessories and servicing in particular are expensive which make proper maintenance of labs almost impossible. On Thursday, Scotiabank, in an extension of its scholarship program, gifted computers to several primary schools and News Five was on hand for the first set of donations.
Karen Lewis, Branch Manager, Scotiabank Albert Street
“We’re actually doing a donation to one of our schools in Belize City, to Saint Luke’s Methodist School. We’re giving them a brand new computer, fully loaded and it’s an initiative that the bank thought of because we continue to want to do community service projects and this is one of them.”
Pamela Bodden, Principal, St. Luke Methodist School
“I’m really excited and I’m happy at the same time. A computer is always a very efficient tool in the school and it comes at a very appropriate time since our school is in need of computers. For quite a while we have been trying to upgrade our AV room or Resource Room and we have not been able to secure computers. So I’m very glad for the donation.”
Jose Chan, Branch Manager, Scotiabank Belama
“We chose two primary schools in the city. One of them is Central Assembly of God (Central Christian School) and the other one is the one that was done by the main branch here. We got in touch with different principals and we narrowed it down to this primary school simply because they already have a project at the school where they have about six computers and they have their little lab that they want to get through.”
Jermaine Crawford, Principal, Central Christian School
“We’re very grateful. For each blessing we give God thanks and it comes in at a timely moment because being a part of the Quality School Imitative, we’re trying to put together different things in our school and a resource room is one for the teachers and for the students.”
Karen Lewis
“The donation today is taking place for the Belize City and Belama branches. However, in the next couple days there will be a total of five computers that are donated to schools and this is only the first two.”

I applaud them firstly and congratulate them for the initiative but a general concern is:
Why are computers never donated to any village?
a bank giving one computer. wow
