Marked man, Edward Lord Jr., shot in the face

He’s been a wanted man for some time and last night they almost got him. Twenty-seven year old Edward Lord Jr. whose notoriety dates back to the gangland slaying of George ‘Junie Balls’ McKenzie in August 2007 is tonight hospitalized at the K.H.M.H. after being shot in the face on Thursday night.  Reports are that shortly after nine o’clock, Lord was in a yard on Moya Street when he was approached by a lone gunman wearing a camouflage jacket.  His assailant fired once at him hitting him in the left side of the face.  According to an eyewitness, Lord ran across the street for help where he was rushed to the Karl Heusner Memorial Hospital.  Police say Lord is not cooperating with the investigation and no suspect has been detained but it is apparent that Lord has a price on his head.  He has been the target of several attacks since the beginning of this year.

On June nineteenth, twenty-eight year old Colin Lord was fatally shot in what is believed to have been a case of mistaken identity.  Two gunmen, under the assumption that Edward Lord was present at a home on Lavender Street, unleashed a hail of bullets hitting Colin in the back of the head and Raymond Andrews in the leg.  The shooting, it is believed, was retaliation for the murder of nineteen year old Joyce Mitchell, which occurred several hours earlier.  Mitchell’s brothers are affiliates of Ghost Town, a gang once ruled by George ‘Junie Balls’ McKenzie.  On August twenty-eighth, 2007 ‘Junie Balls’ was executed while standing in front of a Chinese restaurant at the mouth of Pinks Alley.  It was suspected that Edward was the triggerman and an all points bulletin was issued for his arrest.  He was later remanded to the Hattieville Prison for the murder but on March Fifth of last year Lord was acquitted of the charge.
