BELAM Queens gives to St. Luke’s and receives love

We told you on Tuesday night that two Belizean American pageant queens are in the country on a visit and they are bearing gifts. Well, today the queens stopped in at Saint Luke Methodist School on Mahogany Street to hand out schools supplies and other knick-knacks as well as to provide good entertainment for the kids. For the reigning Miss America Belize, the visit to her alma mater, took her on a trip down memory lane. News Five met both queens at the school today where they were welcomed with open arms.

“We have connections with them through past students and also from parents. This is the second visit that they are making to the school and doing this same type of presentation. Ms. America Belize, Ms. Inis, she is a past student if St. Luke Methodist.”

Delahnie Bain

“So we can expect them back on future visits?”

Pamela Bodden

“Well, we most certainly will. And we want to thank them very much for remembering us and coming back and contributing to us in this significant way.”

“For the students here, we brought back a lot of school supplies, we brought back pencils, erasers, sharpeners, books, crayon books, we brought back slippers, we brought back clothing, we brought back trinkets; little make-you-feel-good jingles and things like that. We did performances for them to uplift them and encourage them to stay in school and let them also know that they can be a queen, king and whatever they want to do is possible.”

“And how does it feel accomplishing what you have and coming back to your country to share…”

Divah Denise Williams

“You know what I will be honest with you; for me it’s a journey, it’s a dream come true, it’s—I’m home. I’ve been gone for a long time, for eighteen years, and coming back home I’m a proud Belizean.”

Keisha Inis, Miss America Belize 2010/2011

“It’s a wonderful experience because I attended this school when I was younger. I left standard four and I went to the US and it feels good to come back and give back to my school.”

Delahnie Bain

“So do you visit the school often when you come back?”

Keisha Inis

“Yeah, my previous visit I believe the last time I came, I came just to say hi to my teachers and stuff but this time it’s a huge event because I’m actually a queen and now I’m giving back and it feels great.”
