Bicycle thief gets a ride to the prison

Leon Walford

Another name well known in the courts and to police is Leon Walford. He was charged today for allegedly robbing twenty-four year old Michael Caceres at gunpoint on September twenty-eighth. According to Caceres, he was riding his beach cruiser bicycle on Glen Street at about seven-forty-five when he was approached by Walford who pointed a gun at him and demanded that he hand over the bike. Fearing for his life, Caceres complied and then went straight to police. The cops later detained Walford, who pleaded not guilty to the charge of Robbery with a Firearm today. But because the robbery was committed with a firearm he was remanded to prison until December fifteenth.

Another poster boy for a “3 strikes and you’re out” law. A third serious conviction deserves a sentence of life in prison.

  2. rootsman says:

Not sure what the maximum sentence for a crime with a fire arm is but lifetime sounds good to me or maybe two life time.

  3. Elgin Martinez says:

He is well known in the Courts and still been allowed to roam the streets.

Elgin Martinez I agree with you. Please can someone introduce the public flogging of these idiots. We are wasting time with these guys. This is a real “Puppet Show”. I am so tired of seeing stories of idiots in the news representing Belize young men. There are so many law abiding youngsters that we don’t hear about.

When these guys deny that they had a fire arm during the robbery, the courts should double the sentence if it is found that they were lying.

I’m glad to hear that they have this idiot/ sorry excuse for a male remanded because he stabbed my brother over a year ago almost killed him & yet the police have him roaming the streets like nothing happened. I tell u there’s no real justice in Belize. It’s like your life isn’t worth anything down there. Our country is really in a state of madness! I hope they would lock him up & throw away the keys!!!!!! Or better yet leave him to rot!!!!!!! God is not sleeping though!!!!!!

We cannot afford to house & feed all of these men who seem to like the accommodations at the Hattieville Ramada. Earl Grey keeps suggesting moving the prison to Toledo & making them grow their own food.

I’m not sure these guys can be rehabilitated & I cannot think of one good reason why this fool who chose to put a gun to someone’s head for a bicycle should not be put to sleep. It is only a matter of time before he ends up firing his weapon & by the way, Mr. Peters & the Thompson boy was killed in this same area, where was this fool?

  8. Earl Grey says:

Prison Farm………… SEND HIM TO A PRISON FARM THEN HE CAN LEARN TO FEED HIMSELF AND OTHERS.

WE CAN’T AFFORD TO BE FEEDING THESE CRIMINALS………. LET THEM EARN THEIR KEEP!!!

BUILD A PRISON FARM IN TOLEDO!!!

  9. BM says:

Fully agree with you Earl, take them down south in a really secluded area close to the Guatemalan border. Should incase they want to escape let them go to Guatemala side and see what will happen to them. They want to play like deh big in the streets of Belize….And hell yes, teach them to farm……..mek deh know hard life for real. They will learn to feed themselves and realise that it was hardworking people that make Belize what it is today. I would have them working from 4 am til 7pm ……producing all the vegetable and fruits……….raising livestock to feed the entire country of Belize. They cant use any tools too so mek deh dig in the dirt with their hands……..since they want hard life. Mek deh eat corn tea, dinner and tea. Maybe so the millions spent on the prison could be used for education purposes.
