Auditor General reviewing report on K.H.M.H.
While the P.U.C. reviews the application for a hike in water rates, the audit general is also reviewing the audit report on the procedures followed at the Karl Heusner Memorial Hospital in procuring medical and pharmaceutical supplies. This exercise will take another month or so. News Five spoke this morning with the Auditor General, Edmund Zuniga, who said that the process is taking longer than they had anticipated. Previously when we spoke with the Assistant Auditor General, Wayne Simon, he said that he had expected the audit to be finished by the end of September and that by now, the first week in October, the Commission could have begun their Inquiry. But the chief says while there are five auditors working at the K.H.M.H., they want to do a thorough job and it won’t be for another three or four weeks before they are through. When they are through, the Department will forward copies of the audit to the Prime Minister, the K.H.M.H. Management and Ministry of Health. Zuniga added that the K.H.M.H. Management is cooperating with them and facilitating them with the necessary information.
