There is a major break in the double murder of attorney Richard Stuart and his wife, Maria Stuart, a chartered accountant. They were viciously stabbed to death at around midnight on Saturday as they arrived home from a dinner. According to our sources, a former employee made a jailhouse confession. As we reported Tuesday night, he is twenty-four year old Nixon Alexander Maza who also goes by the name of Milton Darinel Maza. He was hauled off to magistrate’s court in front of Dorothy Flowers late this afternoon and was arraigned for the double murder. Maza, a Guatemalan, also claims to be a naturalized Belizean. While being read the first murder charge for Maria Fernandez Stuart, Maza told the magistrate that she was his boss and she assisted him to get his ‘papers’. Maza was not shy to speak and told the magistrate that he went to school in Melchor, Guatemala and also in Blackman Eddy Village in Belize. He said he lived in Santa Elena and works in St. Matthew’s Village where he does agricultural work for a living.

One observer at court noted that he limped and kept holding the right side of his ribcage when he exited the police vehicle. In addition to a small tattoo between his thumb and his index finger on his left hand, our court reporter noted that he looked disheveled. Maza seemed to have injures to his toe, wrist, and neck. He was allowed a translator because he spoke mainly Spanish. No plea was taken from him because it is an indictable offense. The case was adjourned until November twenty third. Maza was picked up at Saint Matthews Village where the Toyota Scion, belonging to the Stuarts was found. That is the same village in which another vehicle belonging to the Stuarts was found after it was stolen about a month ago.

How many strangers know quite well that here in Belize it is an accomplishment for them to go to Belize prison! They care so little what the hell is done and are thoughtless in committing murders in order to go to Belize jail and sit down in front of heavy Belizean meals! They would not do that in their own country, you bet not. In their country there is JAIL, J-A-I-L , not paradise as they enjoy here in Belize. So we as Belizeans have much to think before giving these criminals a hand when they enter into our country.We must just ignore them, send them back to their country to learn to live and work in their own country, not here.That SOB is lucky, other families would have done with his stupid life long time, why wait for our system that don`t f’n works?

I also read that the Guy is claiming he took two guys to the house “because they wanted to c the house n they handed him a knife, but he didn’t use bit, however he witnessed the whole thing”if that is the case, he still needs to b charged with murder. These people gave him a job, Ms Maria helped him get his papers n they treated him well. What did he think these guys that were supposedly there was going to do? Everyone is jumping to judgment… The report said that this individual was limping when they took him to court….Hmmmmm In addition, he does not speak English….point 2…. If he was someone who wasnt assumed to be on the shady side of the law, he wouldnt have gotten picked up in the first place. The injuries this fool has, had to be beaten out of him to get a confession. I could care less if POLICE LEFT HIM CRIPPLE, what he did, he deserves more than that to start with. While it takes sometime to get all the players involve, investigation is ongoing until arraignment date so just wait to hear the rest of the story. Crimes are not solved in one day.

Why is ………… so concerned about the injuries of Maza? Who is to say he got them while in police custody. Maybe Richard and Maria got a piece of him when they were fighting for their lives as he hacked them to death. I highly doubt that they would have just lain there; these people loved their life and their family, they were fighters.
Secondly, I don’t want him dead yet. We need everyone involved in this to pay. If he is afraid to give up the names of his accomplices because of what they might do to him, then we need to make him afraid to withhold the names because of what WE might do to him. This guy had motive, he knew this family and was in possession of their vehicle. I do not believe he is just a “fall guy” singled out by the Police. Evidence, DNA analysis, everything you can find – that is what the police need to be working on now. Don’t pin your case on one confession that might later be ruled inadmissible. The people of Belize demand justice!!!

You really have me thinking. I understand that everyone should have the right to be presumed innocent until proven guilty according to the laws of Belize having had a public trial. The problem is this case is so high profile there isn’t a man in the land who will sit on the jury without some knowledge of and an opinion of it. Therefore beyond reasonable doubt? Well, that’s difficult.
What I will say is that in my very humble opinion when I heard that he was limping, I was even more angry because it suggested to me that the couple was fighting for their lives. Unless they were ambushed and tied up immediately you would definitely be fighting for your life and so the killer is bearing the wounds they inflicted on him. That is my take on it but then as you say we have tried and convicted him already. I think it is generally felt that the fear is the judiciary will let us down and so people are eager to see justice served. Its not a class thing it is for each and every family whose lost their loved ones and had no justice as the suspect walks free. This is the fear we all have.
I di read all this bullcrop bout alien, and alien, an aliens, if they ship back all the aliens back to their country who will work the farms, because Belizean people no like dirty themself. I was born abroad and came to Belize as a toddler and can assure you that being born out of Belize has no effect on my person. I abide by the laws of the land and I am a proud Belizean and have the same rights as born Belizeans. The Constitution of Belize gives me that right.
Everyone knows that most criminals are of black descent, but that doesnt mean that if you’re black you’re a criminal. I have many black friends that are hard working and proud Belizeans. I also know hispanics that are parasites of society. I won’t take up for anyone, if they did the crime, do the time. No matter if ur black, chinese, hispanic or alien as some ah unu call us, indian or any other race.
The only people I know da no “aliens” are the Mayans….they have been here and it has been proven scientifically. Blacks, Hispanics, Menonites, East Indians, Chinese and everybody else came after. So if I am an alien because I no born here….then you are too even if you born here.
I can assure you one thing tho, I believe in what is right and just. Instead of making discrimating comments, make positive suggestions on how we can solve the crime problem in our beloved country, Belize.

I respect origin, beliefs and everything from Belizeans naturalized or not. But it is not foreign workers who work on our farms there and will always be hardworking Belizeans who grow their own food. I know many many many grass roots Belizeans, creoles, Garifuna, East Indian, Turk who grow their own crops and small herbs etc, right in their little back yards in the different districts. Belizeans have never been afraid of hardwork at least the ones I have known. Even the young ones who do not work or do not want to can do excellent work when they put their mind into it. By nature Belizeans are not naive. The only thing is that they want to imitate what they see from other cultures, gangs, beheadings, and that is a lack of love for our culture and melting pot of identity. Let us teach our young ones to be proud of our traditional family values because if we do not they embrace other ones which are undesirable. Our own people are acting against our own nature. The problem is they want want want material things sometimes we have to practice self denial and self control. Respect and blessing to everyone.
This is so hard for me as they are my family, I too feel more is to be told. Belize we have to come together. Now we have to be a village truly and help raise dese children.
Here is another example of a trained killer executing his plan. I am not prejudging the man before he is given his day in court, but initially, if all the evidence is clearly overwhelming against him then he deserves the death penalty. Again these killers are becoming more ruthless, because THEY HAVE NO RESPECT FOR THE BELIZEAN JUSTICE SYSTEM. THE COURT IS A BIG JOKE. YOU SIMPLY HAVE TO COME UP WITH THE MONEY TO GET AN ATTORNEY AND HE OR SHE WHOSE JOB IT IS TO GET YOU OFF FOR A PRICE “ON TECHNICALITY” WILL DO SO. They choose to kill because they believe they can get away with it. A young person looking at this on TV will observe how the outcome of the case will transpire, and he or she will say I can get away with this, because Belizean justice is a big joke. Where does it ends. THE FIBER OF OUR BELIZEAN SOCIETY IS AT STAKE. THINK ABOUT EVERYONE. WE THE PEOPLE CAN CHANGE OUR SOCIETY.

its amazing and sooo ridiculous behaviour of our court system, police, department of public prosecution, ministers, cabinet, all the law makers to expect us to believe this simple guy would go and do such a big crime. this is a big joke and big mess. I dont think anyone really could clean up this mess bcz PM of this country involved so much ….. along with so members of this country`s under cover “lover seemed” haters.
