CEMO appeals to public to assist hurricane victims
If you weren’t affected by the storm, CEMO is appealing for your generosity to assist hurricane victims to get back on their feet. At their press conference today they revealed the long list of items that are desperately needed, which according to them are an initial seventy families.
Troy Smith, Damage Assessment and Needs Analysis Team
“Essentially people that are affected, seventy families in our initial report, which includes children and young people over a hundred and fifty. Roughly we have, our initial report, is over sixteen buildings totally destroyed by hurricane Richard and they are still more people coming in, people calling because of the time frame.”
Pastor Howell Longsworth, Chairman, Church & Family Development Committee
“We want to ask the churches to begin a food drive appeal so we could channel whatever we receive in the different churches through the agencies being manned by City Council and CEMO. So with that there are other people who have not been affected by the hurricane in this area and certainly we would like them to assist. So there is a food drive appeal. Canned food can be delivered. My number is 607-5527.”
Zenaida Moya Flowers, Belize City Mayor
“We will be having our monthly concert in the part at Battlefield Park. That will also be complement with a food, clothing and other relief supplies drive. So if you have any clothes, any food items, any sleeping gears or cooking utensils, please you can bring it here or if you need to gather those items, take it to Battlefield Park.”
Philip Willoughby, Belize City Deputy Mayor
“There will also be a waiver of fees for usage of the dumpsite. You know that there is a fee to access the dumpsite but the waiver of this fee at this current moment in time will only apply to debris and so forth as a result of hurricane Richard. Everything else is business as usual.”
A total of one thousand families are said to be affected in central and southern district.
Philip Willoughby……………IS CHALLENGED TO DRESS LIKE A PROFESSIONAL.
HE NEEDS LESSONS ON HOW A PUBLIC OFFICIAL SHOULD DRESS…..especially AS the DEPUTY MAYOR
The only ones in the country getting help after hurricane richards are the ones who live in the city.this is how its been done, and will continue to be done,no questions ask,i dean barrow has spoken.
I WAS ABOUT TO MAKE THE SAME COMMENT AS EARL GREY ON PHILLIP WILLOUHGBY ATTIRE . COME ON MR. WILLOUGHBY YOU ARE A PART OF REPRESENTATION OF BELIZE AND YOUR PICTURE ON THE INTERNET IS CARRIED WORLDWIDE, THERE’S NOTHING WRONG IN DRESSING CASUALLY BUT YOU’RE T-SHIRT SHOULD BE BASIC WITHOUT THE PHASES ON THEM.
Ohhh! Give him some slack! I found it quite funny, and to me shows he does not care about his appearance , he appears to have no time for that……. A man of action!!! (backed up by the frequently spotted Superman baseball hat!).
Really… aren’t there other pressing issues than the Deputy’s attire. If he was in a business casual you’d be saying “yeah watch ah he cud di dress up wen people de out yah without wah roof and food”. Please people constructive criticism always works better. Besides it’s not the clothes that make the man. At least EL CHE is on the right track.
Good neighborly love is good and much needed in Belize…but CEMO should not depend on the public to assist victims…you are the government !!! Shame on you!
Above are the great representatives of our country.
I guess DJ Dalla Flowers wah have wah lotta potted meat and chicken sausage to munch on for the rest of 2011…..hahaha…poor people
at least he has an outfit, bet believe some people have nothing. you all do have time to waste sitting up here an complaining about the deputy mayors attire. what have you all contributed for your country men?
we are all belizeans. lets start taking care of each other and stop playing the blame game.. all we hope is that the help is going to who need it.
no wonder belize is in the drain look at these leaders how sad
