Police bust men who stole weapons from home
In the courts, six Ladyville residents were today charged with a number of offences including burglary, drug trafficking and possession of unlicensed ammunition. While Hurricane Richard made landfall in central Belize on Sunday October twenty-fourth the home of American national Udgen Brick on Falcon Street in Ladyville was burglarized.
Among the items stolen were two point three-eighty caliber firearms; a Taurus and a Smith & Wesson brand handgun as well as several live rounds of ammunition. Police investigations led to the raid of a house in Vista del Mar occupied by twenty-four year old Mason Patnett and his common-law wife twenty-nine year old Tanice Smith. There they discovered the weapons and ammunition as well as an assortment of Brick’s personal items which included jewelry, clothing and electronic equipment.
Ladyville police also found four pounds of marijuana hidden inside four baskets. Arrested during the raid were two men; twenty-two year old Roy Lord and twenty-one year old Cruz Encalada along with two minors ages fifteen and thirteen. This morning when they appeared before Magistrate Emerson Banner they were denied bail and remanded into custody; the minors to the youth hostel and the adults to the Central Prison until December first.
