Security Company busted for not having licenses

Joseph Meighan

An unusual charge is before the courts against Joseph Meighan, the owner of JB Security and two of his employees. Darrel Brooks and Jeremy Morgan were initially charged in September for Acting as Security Guards without Licenses while Meighan was charged with Employing Persons without Licenses. They were all released on bail for those charges but today Brooks and Morgan were remanded to the Hattieville Prison when they were additionally charged with Keeping an Unlicensed Firearm.

Jeremy Morgan

That’s because they were busted with a twelve gauge pump action shot gun and a nine millimetre pistol at a police checkpoint on September seventh. Meighan, who was with his employees at the time of the bust, also had a gun in his possession, but he escaped charges because he had a license for his weapon. The men were not represented in court but Meighan has retained the services of an attorney to apply for bail at the Supreme Court on their behalf. Brooks and Morgan are due back in court on December tenth.

If JB Security had a licence prior to this incident, then it is safe to say that it was to be renewed

or was late on paper work or documents. Those guards should only be relieved of their firearm

and the owner held on a small fine. Belizeans this is an honest hard working man-This is not

justice-this is a fine example of what they want to do to hardworking people-embarrass

them-lock them up and hurt them–Belizeans its time to put yourself out there with your axe and

paddle and introduce pain to those who have caused you so much pain and agony.

  4. CEO says:

Hard working or not there are laws and if they do not keep up with the necessary paper work for their job they should be treated just the way they are treated.

The owner should also be charged and fined because he suppose to make sure his employees are legally working and should be required to keep a hard copy of a current licence on file for each of his employees. This line of work requires even more scrutiny because it entales the securety of property and people and their tool is a fire arms.

  5. Cutty Ligiyaba says:

Very true CEO–Now practice what you you preach and go after the crooks in government and all

those under the table crimes that goes on as if it was legal and productive to the regular

citizens and society–This is where you look at a situation and use your brain-there is no

criminal act here idiot–this is a regular small business under attack—so what there was no

licence for those security guards most security officers are covered under the umbrella of there

company–for work purpose only–these men were on there jobs–would you like to be arrested

on your job because your employer failed to pay his liquor licence or income tax—hell no–think

CEO and stop this abuse of hard working Belizeans—-Its time to get militant Belizeans,

because your future depends on it.

Laws are laws and u must abide by them…its unfortunate for them but thats life.

  7. Manford says:

Every time I hear some small minded person talk about law, I get unexplained emotional feelings, because I know what its was to have to go along with laws that encouraged the ill treatment of us blacks in the United States of America. I would like for these so call law abiding self righteous to find themselves at the mercy of a system from which they could not expect any mercy. Not too long ago I saw while surfing the Internet many laws that various states in the USA were doing away with and wondered how in the hell Politicians had implemented such stupid legislations in the first. Law is nothing but sound and rational reasoning. Most laws are down right stupid. How stupid to arrest six persons for one bullet?

this is just a waste of time because these security guards did nothing. they were on their job working hard. why go through all this? look for the criminals out there and stop treating these security guards as if they committed a crime. something must be done about this because the good always suffer for the bad!
