  1. Skywalker says:

Get some foreigners to do it man. SIS, FBI, anyone! I don’t think people fully realize how serious this situation is. If you can land a plane-load of people at the country’s international airport, solving the problem is already beyond our means. Why? Because obviously powerful people are behind it.

  2. GUINEA GRASS Observer says:

Certainly there should be an independent-autonomous commission of inquiry to investigate the visa scandal that is definitely being monitored by the international community.

Belize need to establish its reputation as a country with integrity and willing to fight illegal human smuggling.

WHY THE UDP DOES NOT WANT THE A COMMISSION OF INQUIRY???
    WHAT ARE THEY AFRAID OF???

Internal investigation will not yield nothing because of course, politicians are involved. Mr. Perdomo and Mr. Sigh will not incriminate themselves; thus, how do we expect that they will be non-bias in the investigation???

we need an independent commission of inquiry compose of different parties with different interest.

A recommendation would be for the commission to be compose of representatives of: PUP, UDP. members of Senate, US officials, etc.

  3. Earl Grey says:

    No DOUBT!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  4. Reuben M. says:

Barrow said, man u should si weh the past government used to do. Barrow, thats y they were voted out get over it and try to get your out of control government in line.

  5. Quesneay Diaz says:

    Hell yes!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  6. fromafar says:

    duh!!!

  7. Cutty Ligiyaba says:

Absolutely–why not? because Dean Barrow said NO or is it because Dean Barrow said its too expensive–Please please with sugar on top—-a commission is rightfully so, it will be the first move to curb corruption and restructuring the country.

  8. Elvis says:

To have a Commission of Inquiry into any scandal in Belize is tantamount to an exercise in futility. The facts might be brought forward but the end result will be the same as all the other inquiries, “NOTHING’. No one will be held responsible or legally accountable for the misdeeds and corruption, in the end the public resources will have been exhausted without any meaningful results.

  9. GOD FEARING youth says:

Did you guys not hear the P.M respond to that interview, There is no way on this green earth that you will get anything out of this until the new administration comes in. Wait a minute in the P.M interview he did say that the previous administration did worst, I guess that was justification for what Minister Perdomo did what a statement. Come own wake up this will fall in the cracks until the godly rule in government.

  10. Elgin Martinez says:

A commission of inquiry isn’t going to do anything.Perdomo and his affiliates is about to give amnesty which means that he’s got a couple plane full of Chinese and Japanese Nationals on standby awaiting this big time buffet where they are going to aquire Belizean Citizenship on layaway.GOB is a joke .

  11. luo says:

soo true soo true(shaking head) justification??? i thought he would make it right to be the example to other gob to do the right thing…

  12. Charles Payne says:

Guinea Grass is correct……we need an independent body to investigate and that goes for “EVERYTHING” and in every GOB Ministry…..IT IS SIMPLY NOT POSSIBLY TO BE UNBAISED, maybe an arms length ORGANIZATION of the Ombundsman office……however with members…Independently ELECTED not appointed…..to be someone’s flunky.
Unfortunatly corrution in this country TRANSENDS…..political partisanship…..it seems the wealth and the politicians work symbiotically togeather to fleece this country and its people.

There are a lot of Knowledgeable, highly educated and loyal Belizeans living abroad that may wish to return home and work for their country…….again, Often they are not well received by their own Belizeans who enjoys the “Status Quo” some of the problems they may experience is …OLD FASHION ENVY and INSECURITY by the Belizean they have to Over See or Manage.
Hell…this country have some serious problems! I think first we have to re examin ourselves and go back to those valuable intangibles of……respect, honour, responsibility, loyalty Honesty and integrity…..Then and only then there will be HOPE FOR US ALL.
    Charles Payne

  13. rusty says:

All present immigration officers should be replaced one by one. The are a lot of newly studied Belizeans looking for opportunities. These people in this department have already ruined their opportunity in this government department.

  14. BZNinCALI says:

    I second your motion Skywalker.

  15. BELIZEANGYPSY says:

From the days of our forefathers corruption in Government has existed in our Country and in majority of Third World countries, however it just seems lately to be more rampart and done to a degree more than previously. It puzzle me how Politicians can get away with these things ,come in and out of office and absolutely no charges of wrongdoing is ever brought against them. I hope we as Belizeans are learning a lesson to take a closer look at the person we are voting in office in the next General Election. Belizean abroad needs to ban together and make sure they are in Belize at the time of Election to cast their votes also.

  16. CEO says:

I agree with Skywalker! This is bigger than we think. Don’t punish the guard who did not report it. He is just trying to feed his family. No one can land a plain load of people in any country without someone in high places knowing.

  17. David says:

We are getting tired of all the corruption that is happening in this country. Belize is too small to have all this kind of rocket going on here. I believe that the proper authorities should do something about this immediately.

  18. Elgin Martinez says:

Mr Barrow may you please tell the Belizean people who had the connections in China. Was it you or Perdomo?Maybe the Police Department should have tapped those calls to China.

  19. rod says:

come on channel 5 do your job the proper way dig in to this story dig deep much more here that hasnt come out yet dig dig dig digggggggggggggggggggggggggggggggggggggggggg if you start putting away these crooks in this gov. i will even start donating money to pay your reporters more and you will surely be the best news organization in the land.

  20. Orlando says:

This is a case of national security and as such it is very important that we get to the botton line of this event. God knows since when this has been happening. To land a plane at the airport and nobody but the guys at the airport knows what is going on. All this people at the airport needs to be replaced and investigate all the Governemnt people or ministers, immigration and customs departments. They need to be replaced no question asked and jailed for a verty long time, they are messing around with the countries national security.

  21. daveyt says:

20,000 illegal immigrants will soon get amnesty, if the up and coming bill proposal passes into law, which will be a slap in the face for those, like me, who have entered and stayed here legally, paid our dues and taxes, not broken any laws, and made Belize our home!

Guess I’ll need to get a Chinese or Guatemalan passport now and join the queue!

Those 20,000 illegal immigrants should be arrested, prosecuted, then deported immediately to preserve our sovereignty. But no, too many in power with ‘vested interests’, and profiting from the human trafficking. Better to give them amnesty than have investigations naming names!!!!

  22. GOD FEARING youth says:

channel 5 get on the ball. Rod sounds like he got the $$$$$$$$$$$ to uncover this story. Lets hit it up.

  23. BM says:

Why spend a lot of money on forming a Commission on inquiry into the immigration scandal….it will serve no purpose. Look at what happen to the DFC and the KHMH inquiries. No body will get charged anyways. Wise up people…..for our country to move forward we need all those ole tired @## public servant to be removed. They get too darn comfortable in their jobs that they don’t see outside the box…..most of them there just to get a paycheck. Some might call it victimization, but if i was the PM i’d remove all of them. Put young educated minds in there department….clean them out completely. Look at the customs department for example…….everybody on the streets could see the big time houses and luxury some of these officers have and we know some of them hussle big. How come we could see and the authorities or even their superiors dont question these things. Save the commission money and spend it on something more worthwile….. something that would provide more jobs for the uneducated ones and the criminals that want to make a change in their lives.

  24. scubamom says:

Inquiry for every department is needed. Not an internal audit but an independent one, we do not have to look abroad Belizeans living in the states oh no do not go so far…We have a University with highly smart belizeans who are going for their Bachelors or those students abroad who are going for their Masters, we have (accountants, information technology students….so on) have the University put these students to actually get a feel of what is going on in our country and go do a audit our future accountants our future computer wizzes, we got the power home we can do it and have each department get scared and on their feet

  25. Kay says:

How many ‘commissions of inquiry’ can one country form and still have no solution to the problem that spurred the inquiry in the first place? Belize keeps forming “commissions” for every discrepancy that they come across and after that we hear nothing more about it. Just fulfilling another part of election manifesto “provide jobs for Belizeans”. That’s all these “commissions” are and nothing else.

  26. abnerl says:

the problem is we always blame the little people. remember that nothing happens in belize if someone at the top dont agree

  27. abnerl says:

big people get the money that’s why most people set caught.
