Belizeans for Justice continue to champion the cause

Joan Sutherland

Among those present this morning’s celebration were members of Belizeans for Justice. The organization is continuing with its mission to instill a sense of hope among families grieving the murders of loved ones. We asked Joan Sutherland, who also lost her son to crime a few years ago what gives her strength when it seems that the violence has no end.

Joan Sutherland, Member, Belizeans for Justice Movement

“Everyday you wake up someone dead two person dead, three person dead.”

Marion Ali

“Someone was killed last night again. In the face of all your efforts, it seems the murders continue unabated. Is your effort, is the movement, accomplishing? Is it being successful? Are you reaching to those you need to reach in order to quell this problem, this plague, in our society?”

Joan Sutherland

“Sometimes it feels like we’ve reached the end of the rope, but when we sit down and we discuss what is our plan ahead of us, it gives you hope and it gives you strength that yes we have to fight, we have to reach that point.”

This weekend the Belizeans for Justice Movement will have a barbecue sale at the Battlefield Park to raise funds for victims of Hurricane Richard.  The sale will begin at ten on Saturday morning and will continue until four in the afternoon.
