V.I.P. calls for senate investigation of immigration and visa scandal

The Visa and Immigration scandal has revealed a human trafficking ring that spans across the globe. The official investigation of the three flights with thirty-three Chinese Nationals that were trafficked through the international airport in September and October is lagging.  The People’s United Party had already called for a Commission of Inquiry and now another political party that is rooted in the capital, Vision Inspired by the People, is now asking for a Senate investigation. VIP’s Chairman, Paul Morgan, says that the Minister of Defense and Immigration Carlos Perdomo as well as the Minister of Police Doug Singh, should both step aside for a public investigation.

“If the Belizean government does not act properly, I think we will have no choice in the V.I.P. but to defend our constitution by inviting the United Nations’ convention on crime and drugs to intervene and find out what’s going on because it offends them too.”

“But the government has two investigations, one from the police and one from Ministry f national Security and Immigration.”

“Well it is good that they have those things, but we know that you can’t have the mouse guard the cheese, and because they are integrally involved in this and intimately involved, I believe the Minister of National Security and the Minister of Police should all recues themselves from this investigation and be answerable to those who are investigating.”

“So who should carry out this investigate?”

“This should be a senatorial investigation. V.I.P. is calling on Belizeans to pay attention to this one. It is not the only issue of scandal and corruption in Belize, but it is the one that we believe will highlight all the things that have been happening for such a long time now. We are asking also the media especially to put on its patriotic armor now as our national anthem calls for and keep the attention of the people to this immigration scandal. It is a fact that there were plane load of Asian immigrants who entered Belize illegally. That is a fact. We don’t know the rest of the facts, but what we know is that there is much cover up happening right now. And so we expect that the government, if it is to keep its promise of transparency and accountability, will fully investigate this matter publically.”
