Keon Williams Myvette murdered by gunshot to the head

keon williams myvette

Gun violence has flared up again in the city. The executions of Eric “Ghetto Fab” Savery on Friday and Kenroy Mejia on Saturday, were followed by the homicide of Keon Williams Myvette just after six o’clock on Monday night. It is not known why he was executed, but Myvette was recently twice tried for the murder and once for manslaughter of Michael Gladden. While he beat those charges in July, he couldn’t escape two persons who surprised him from behind and delivered the fatal shots to his head at the corner of Lancaster and Castle Streets. Our records show that Myvette is so far the one hundred and twelfth murder victim for this year News Five’s Marion Ali reports that one more person was injured in the shooting.

Marion Ali, Reporting

Just half hour before the evening news was about to air on Monday, another set of bullets rang out and when they ceased, another man lay dying on a Belize City Street.  Twenty-eight year old Keon Williams Myvette was standing by this lamp post at the corner of Lancaster and Castle Streets when two youths rode by on a bicycle and opened fire.

Myvette was shot to the head and was rushed to the Karl Heusner Memorial Hospital.  But the injuries proved too severe and he died within minutes.  A second man who was at the scene, Mark Rowley, was also hit in the assault, but his injury was not as serious.

Myvette’s favourite cap sat alone on a chair handle at his family home on York Street this evening as his mother and relatives try to figure out what happened.

Today Myvette’s family used sand to cover the bloodstains where he was shot.  According to his girlfriend, Odessa Bailey, the father of two had a doctor’s appointment at seven o’clock on Monday night, reached the hospital in much dire straits instead.

While police have detained two youths for the killing, they have not laid any charges against them thus far.  Marion Ali for News Five.

Reading the news from Belize is so distressing, violent murders read like scripts from gangster movies. The situation has become worse in this once peaceful nation? Can somebody please tell me why we are burying our youth so often.I pity the Mothers who have to bear the suffering and pain of losing thier babies in these sensless acts of violence. We need to find a solution to this epidemic.

Again no parent should outlive their child but it has become our new normal. Mami, he beat a murder rap, someone shot at him 3 weeks ago. The streets did what the court would not or could not do. It is a harsh reality but it is what it is.

  3. MADDYVANDIJK/DEREALIST says:

I can honestly say that I have no remorse for this person, another one got what he deserved and as far as I am concern the streets are less dangerous with them gone.
Sadly, two innocent children are now fatherless and the circle continues. Children so often has to pay the price or suffer due to the sins and crimes their father’s committed, parents have failed their children, and society will suffer due to this failure, or lack of good parenting.

    Like I said yesterday…..
…its sad and touchy that relatives have to mourn the death of a bad man….. its truly a volatile situation….. if they did their share trying to convince him to live a life of righteousness then we can sympathize with them.. truly…..

But if they were part of the environment that contributed to form the bad man he was….. well we reap what we sow…….

I can only extend my condolences to those that tried to save him from his own actions…..
I guess that sadly now Keon’s family are feeling what other families…. of other murder victims.. presumably victims of keon…. have felt before….

I hope that from this incident (which is becoming very common now – accused murderers that get off the hook and are set free are gunned down sooner or later) … “bad men” realize they are safer in Hattievile rather than being back on the streets…..and look up at being locked up for their actions rather than try to be set free…..
Street justice will proliferate as long as the judiciary remains inneffective (>7% conviction rate) at prosecuting these criminals….

….however its still sad for young children or unborn children losing their fathers thanks to street violence…. THEY are the TRUE victims of this carnage…

  6. GOD FEARING youth says:

Justice will be serve by the families of the dead or by God Himself. Looks like the Justice system is letting all cases go to nothing but belizeans are taking matter into their own hands. I am not saying that violence is ok, but what do you do when the Justice system is not doing there job.

  7. Oscar965 says:

At the end of the day Mr. Myvette may have reaped what he sowed….do good ..good comes back to you…do bad..and it will catch up to you…sooner or later…too bad he left innocent children behind….

I guess all these comments that I’m reading is c’min from people that didn’t know Keon. He was never a bad guy nor did he came from a family that contribute to such ugliness. Who r anyone of u to judge someone and say they r bad if u don’t know them. He did walk off free, manslaughter is not walking of killing someone free. There is a difference, get rid of the dirty heart and stop putting GOD in the middle of all this. He was very sorry for what happen 3.5 years ago, he never get in any problem w/ anyone b4 that incident and his mother is never condone such the wrong that her children do, the justice was he was defending his self and in doing that he made the wrong move and a terrible act happen. So stop saying he was a bad man who got off free.

  15. 1Love says:

He didn’t walk off free, my mistake he didn’t becuz he was sorry! And he had to live with his self forever. God did not even had a chance to work on him b4 someone put matter in their own hands. He never intentionally meant to kills the guy that he was been acused of killing and he never meant to hurt the family. People stop and think b4 u rite non-sense about someone don’t know or choose not to kno.

  16. Time says:

It’s Just Sad To See Our Own Killing Up Each Other… Guatemala Is On The Other Side Laughing, Cause One Day They just Going To Step In And Take Belize Over. Pay Attention To What’s Going On. The Only Thing Is If That Young Man Have Ask God Forgivness. You & I Dont Know… May His Poor Soul Rest In Peace…. & My Sympaties Goes Out The Da Family…

  17. saddened by crime says:
