Woman’s allegations about theft and kidnapping were false

Leanora Rhaburn

The charges brought by Leanora Rhaburn against her nineteen year old estranged common-law, Dennis Carr, landed him an interdiction and a court appearance.  But today before newly appointed Magistrate Kayla Teck, Rhaburn confessed to making a false report and fabricating the story that Carr stole from her and the police department.  In an emotional testimony Rhaburn told the court that she is constantly harassed by Carr despite having a restraining order against him.  Rhaburn, who was not given a jail sentence, was ordered to pay a fine of a hundred dollars by December fifteenth.  She was also advised to seek counseling for her ailing relationship.  On August ninth, thirty-four year old Rhaburn also reported to Belize City police that she was abducted Carr, a police constable, while standing on Central American Boulevard.  She claimed to have been held hostage in an area near the Hattieville Prison for three days but was able to flee from her captors and hitch a ride back to Belize City.  It is of note that this was not the first time Rhaburn concocted an alleged kidnapping involving herself or her seventeen year old daughter.

Well the court system in Belize is never fair, and never what it should be. The ones really need to be punished, never gets punished. I mean as it was a waste of court’s time and resources of the public. They should be sentence to community work or even just some sort of jail sentence. More over, fabricating the story, the person who she accused of has lost time, and all sort because of her lying story. What he lost she can not afford to pay it back. What if he was sentence to jail time and innocently went to jail for something he never did! Which that has happened in our system already. Who is there to pay back the time he has lost? Not only time, emotional stress and what the family has to go through? Sometimes people dont understand the effect that a lye can cause others.
