Belizeans for Justice full force ahead in Hurricane relief efforts

Belizeans for Justice is not only about appealing for good governance, the group has been busy since the hurricane with its own relief effort. The founders of the group have been appealing to private businesses to provide food, portable stoves and clothing for victims. Yolanda Schakron told News Five about the devastated areas that they intend to help and the other relief effort that will be held over the weekend.

“Today we got a real generous donation from Cuellos Distillery makers of Caribbean Rum. They donated forty, two-hole stoves, beans, rice, cooking oil and other food items. We will be distributing this to Hattieville some people in Yarborough and other rural villages in the Belize district. Tomorrow we will be at the Battlefield Park from eight o’clock; we’ll be having a food drive. You can bring your can foods, we’ll be accepting clothing and we’ll be selling barbecue—chicken beef and pork.  And we will be using the money to help some of the victims of hurricane who need roofing and stuff like that for the homes, construction supplies.”

Jose Sanchez

“One criticism of other relief efforts is that relief efforts doesn’t really get to the right people. Just people come along and say that I am a victim. How do we know that this will actually reach to people who really need the help the most?”

Yolanda Schakron

“Well we at Belizeans for Justice, we go we walk the area, we talk to the people and we deliver it ourselves. So we make sure that the people who need it are getting it. And we don’t worry if you are blue or red. We dah fi everybody.”

Jose Sanchez

“And if there is anybody who will like to assist or contribute along the way Cuellos did, is there a number they could reach?”

Yolanda Schakron

“They can call me at 631-8467 and we will be happy to pick up the item or if they want to drop it off at Red House.”

Macal Rivera, you are right. Sometimes Belizeans are so bitter and twisted that there is no reasoning with these people. I am always surprise by the level of ignorance, even to attack a man about his physical attributes. This is Belize my friend, I am Belize, You are Belize, He/She/it is Belize. hehehe!

    Hold it together Macal Rivera.
