Belizeans for Justice also calling for investigation into immigration scandal

As we said earlier, the Immigration and visa scandal has first put the Immigration Department in the spotlight but the scandal is now questioning the management of the Ministry of National Security. The man at the center of the scandal Carlos Perdomo is in charge of both ministries and has personally given approval of visas to which are highly questionable and to people which cannot be accounted for after their arrival in Belize. Since the scandal broke, two political parties, the PUP and the VIP have called for independent inquiries, and today the Belizeans For Justice support group is also calling on government to be transparent and just.

Yolanda Schakron, Founder, Belizeans For Justice

yolanda schakron

“We’re very concerned about it because that concerns national security. There should be a commission of inquiry into it. We don’t believe that the Minister of National Security should be investigating itself. I think that this is an issue that is really detrimental to our national security and we want there to be some transparency. We don’t believe that our nationality should not be sold like that. We are asking the Prime Minister to please step in and appoint some people to investigate what is going on because as Belizeans I believe it should be something that is of very much concern to everyone who is Belizeans. When you hear of people having our passport that don’t speak our language and don’t know Belize, it is something that is of real concern to us. As an organization, we believe it is an injustice to our nationality and our people. We just want there to be some kind of investigation into this matter.”

Jose Sanchez

“There are other groups independently calling similarly for a commission. Do you see eventually maybe you will be willing to have a united voice?”

Yolanda Schakron

“I think we should. I mean we are willing to work with anyone. We are here for our Belizean people and we are willing to unite and we can join forces and really pressure that something be done.”

There should be an independent inquiry into this matter but it has to be done b some international or no bios organisation or person. If the Prime minister appoints someone we all know he is not one of the most honest people he will deffinetly appoint someone who will say and does what the om instructs so even if they do find they wont report it as for carlos perdomo the man is a total loss and mess please someone do a smart thing and just remove him from any portfolio it is obvious the job is too big for him and he has no will to fight tempteation i am sure that him as well as other udp affiliates got a large sum of cash for letting these people in. If they cant handle their own Belizean people what will they do with these foreigners who are smarter and obviously have a way of getting around things. i will laugh when this whole issue turns around and bites the present government in the rear. I am glad i no longer live in Belize and plan to return only until a government change occurs

There will be no transparency, because there are too many corrupt politicians running the country. We need new bread of people with visions and fearness that can take the country forward. These ministers need to be investigate and and if found guilty should repay the people and spend some good time behind bars for there action and betray of the people of Belize. they should be an example.

Nothing is going to happen. The PM is getting paid off by these other countries for these folks to come in destroy and capatilize off the people of Belize. Belizeans need to riot the streets like in Cali to get the attention of the PM and other countries. Believe me as I know what I am talking about. In the end we will all be screwed! Our country is approaching the lights of Haiti and we will be suffering, unfortunately, like them.

This is my question”why dont we hear the media in belize questioning them(who ever is in power, udp or pup mafia)belize has 22 news papers,tv’s.we never hear them asking hard questions,or condem thier criminal behavior, why?nothing is said about it,all they do is print the stories here online, seems like this belizeans news papers are owned by the pup and udp mafia.

We have the US watching us, the Mexicans helping us & the Asians screwing us. How long will the US continue to be voyeurs before they smack somebody’s hand?

Proud Belizean, I agree that Perdomo is in over his head, Attorney Saldivar suggested that he may be in an altered state.

Last December we had 4 “Somalis” arrested on the northern highway after their coyote dumped them. They only asked for asylum after they were caught, there has been almost nothing said about that case. Do we know where these people are? Their story should have raised a lot of questions & all of these incidents needs to be on the table discussed in the open. I would prefer to see an Independent Panel look at & recommend ways to correct some of these flaws before one of these people blows something up & we end up with UN troops patrolling our streets or worse.

What the hell is going on? Things like was happening under the PUP and now the UDP. Who are we to trust now? We need an independent body to investigate this thing and we need it now! I am sure high ranking officials are in this think. Sometimes, I feel like nobody is reading what we are writing here. Does the GOB read this? I wish they did!

This is really news to me, I didn’t know about Somali’s dump and later given asylum. It just goes to show THIS SORRY GOV’T WHETHER IT BE UDP/PUP. Nobody gives asylum unless it can be justified and this takes years, CONSULATES are informed if such people are citizens, and criminal records are also verified. I know they weren’t planning to stay in Bz. This was just a route for them into the US. THE GOV’T DOESN’T READ THESE COMMENTS BECAUSE LIKE EVERYTHING, BELIZEANS SIT THERE & TAKE IT. Where are these students with there Degrees, the people angry at governement? NOBODY IS PROTESTING THE INCOMPETENCIES OF THEIR ACTS, I can’t believe this. So glad I don’t live in Bz.

Trust no-one! Illegal Immigrants (20,000) getting residence status, then citizenship for pennies (I had to pay over $3000 for mine, including visa extentions for 12 months, then the actual residancy application fees – could have saved a lot and stayed illegally).

Asian & Sri Lankan people trafficking to the US, via Beliz, with dodgy Belize Entry Visas.

Our Ambassador in the UK getting fired because she doesn’t trust a member of her staff (Surprise, surprise, Daddy is a Minister).

Aircraft landing on highways in the middle of the night, oddly enough no-one in authority saw or heard anything (would be interesting to check the mileage of the local police pick-ups though, see how many miles they were driven whilst ‘parked up’ overnight due to lack of fuel). Despite us having a weather Radar, which could be used to pick out individual aircraft – (just a case of setting it up properly)

Boatloads of Cocaine passing past our shores, despite us now having a Coast Guard.

.. and a government, in their striving for transparency and good governance, ignoring it all and refusing public enquiries or even any form of official investigations.

Armed Xareros, smugglers, illegal loggers & looters running amok in our national reserves, killing & destroying everything they see. maiming Belizeans, and when the very few of them get caught – escorted to the border – Hello? Those weapons are illegal, and they should face the Courts & jail time (In fact, they should be classed as armed insurgents, and let the BDF take care of them in the Jungles – no body – no evidence, no proof, but if enough fail to get back to Guatemala without explanation, the flood will slow to a trickle).

Nothing will happen – The fat cats on both sides of the political circus are too busy lining their own pockets to give a damn about Belize & Belizeans… That is until Tourism and foreign investments dry up! But even then, they get enough from the drug & people smuggling cartels to keep them in the manner that they insist on for years to come! God Help Belize!
