Police look for rapist and killer of pregnant woman

Dangriga police continue to look for a suspect in connection with the brutal murder of thirty four year old Sheline Martinez whose body was found on Sunday morning on the steps of a residence on George Price Drive in that municipality. But while police try to close in on their suspect, Martinez’ mother, Helen Cayetano, is asking why anyone would want her pregnant daughter and grandchild dead.

“She’s not the kind of person that would interfere with people. She is a quite person and would never interfere with nobody. I can say that as her mother, knowing my daughter, she is not the kind of person that would interfere with anybody so for somebody to do her that, it is very unfair on her part. Because4 then she is pregnant and she was expecting a baby any day soon. So when they do that I think they take away her life and another life. So I just wanna say that justice must be served where justice due and if no justice is to be served then we left it in God’s hands and he’ll take it from there.”
Martinez was expected to give birth in December. Police believe that she was also raped because of the evidence they have recovered from an area not far from where her body was discovered.
Hope they SAVE THE DNA evidence from the condom.
This CRIMINAL WILL PAY…. one way or another……SOONER or LATER!!!
Channel 5 thank you for repeating this news item. It is unfortunate that it was reported yesterday and somehow this heinous crime took a backseat. I felt for her even though I don’t have a clue who she is. However my thoughts was neglected in death as in her short life. Someone must have seen her last as they drove past her at the bus stop. To think this woman was stabbed and she laid dying with her full tern baby in her stomach is disturbing. Who knows she probably was seeking help and they drove away after fatally stabbing her. NO ONE OF SOUND MIND CHOOSE TO WALK THE STREETS, therefore the people who profess to love her had a duty of care for this woman and get her the appropriate help. If a person is not of sound mind (whether drugs or mental health) they you will fight all the way because they cannot make rational decisions. She was vulnerable. Do we know how long she was on the streets, where was the partner, who was the father? Was it consensual sex or was she raped? How was she surviving and is it possible she never had a single antenatal care, what was the health status of the baby? There are failings on so many levels. Do we know the identity of the father? if it is unknown, please can we make sure we get tissue samples from the baby before interment takes place for DNA sampling. Secondly anyone with even the smallest of detail please come forward as you may have more information than you realise.
I am dismayed by the brutality within our society against our women and children. In most societies the highest respect is given to a women with child (i.e offer her a seat on public transport, offer her a cool drink, help her with carrying heavy loads, etc) in mine we let them walk homeless in the violent streets and treat them with brutal force.
RIP SHELINE, I can sincerely say you are in a better place.
