  1. Starky says:

I wouldn’t encourage the idea none at all. If he cannot even identify himself properly, how can he represent us as a country, when we are constantly trying for the world to recognize us as an independent nation with a unique culture?

  2. Elias says:

The question remains… Does he have any interest in being that ambassador to Belize? We cannot give a position to someone who does not take it seriously.
If he so desires, then i would say yes, it will only be good for Belize.

  3. Indy says:

Ridiculous, he should not have been an ambassador in the first place. A person that was indicted in another country and then comes to Belize he is an ambassador? What the….. I am very disgusted by this.

  4. HM123 says:

The Question is Do we want to sell our country to the Devil? If you listen to his lyrics, then you would answer the question with a resounding no. We need some positive vibes out there. We have a lot of talented Belizeans that can take that role. Not just because he is the Prime minister’s son then it is ok, we need some one that will represent the country. Thanks.

  5. Do-di-right-thing says:

It is a shame that the PM choose his son to be Musical Ambassador. Why? He has done NADA for Belize.

I guarantee he doesn’t even like Belize. He is here by accident….stuck in our jewel. We have many other artists that are deserving of that title such as: Ras Indio (has international recognition and collaborations with many big artists in Jamaica) , Lloyd, Supa G (who has taken Punta abroad and made it popular), Bredda David (King of Congo Music), or even the new artists that are setting the standard: Franxel y Chami-Ka (featured twice on PromoOnly.com – Florida alongside big names like Lil Wayne, Shakira, Wisin y Yandel, Ice Cube, Mana, etc.).

I propose that the selection of Musical Ambassador be done democratically. Their be a nomination and interviews, questions and answers session. We need the Musical Ambassador to represent Belize holistically.

  6. Cutty Ligiyaba says:

I always thought that Belize ambassador of Music should have been given to another Belizean

    musician and there are many–Supa G- Poots-Aziatic-Rhaburn-Daddy Tracy-Pupa Curley-Pen

    Cayetano-Mime-and many more–

  7. Justice says:

Definitely not, unless it is a part of an unknown empire!. Why is the PM comparing him to Rihanna. Please do not do that injustice as Rihanna was never jailed. She has always called Barbados home despite commitmnets so please please please do not go there! There are many others who are more worthy of that title

  8. psychiatrist says:

this individual is absolutely no ambassdor material. he needs help. he needs medication and therapy. the abandonment of his father has done irrepairable damage to his pysche that he is searching for an indentity. who changes their name 4 times in 1 year and their home as well.
this guy is unraveling, all that pent-up anger against his dead beat dad is shown in his music, in his violent outbursts and his ever changing persona. he has the possibility to explode anytime and he will be a serious major embarrassment to Belize..

  9. BT says:

Why do we even have a “musical ambassador” in the first place? I’m all for recognizing Belizean artists who spend their lives contributing to the culture of our country, but calling them an “ambassador” is really a BS title in the first place. If it is deemed that an artist has made significant contributions in their field then honour them by bestowing an award for for distinguished service, the order or Belize, or some other sort of recognition.

Handpicking your son and giving him an impressive, yet ultimately empty, title sounds like something they would do in North Korea.

  10. Nope says:

    Hell EFFIN No!

  11. Tina says:

I need to say that I am quite disturbed by the PM statement comparing his Son (who can’t even decide what Name he wants to go by) to Rihanna, Rihanna I am sure contributes very meaningfully to HER COUNTRY which she still calls home, in the case of Mr. Barrow’s son he has never pledge allegiance to this Country MY country, he never wanted to come to Belize in the first place, he has never visited Belize prior to his troubles with the law and still he’s not in this country…

The fact of the matter is that Mr. Barrow’s son will always come with a negative story even if he becomes the “POPE”, his back story will always remain what it is, is it unfair? Maybe, but that’s just how the consequences are when you make the wrong decisions in your life.

Jamal Barrow should have never been appointed the great prestigious honor of Musical Ambassador, to me that appointment was a slap in the faces of all Belizean Musicians that has work so hard in this country to get Belizean music to where it is today, they have contributed blood sweat and tears to this country My Country for recognition outside of our boarders… Jamal Barrow should be remove ASAP from this position, but this placement has just confirm to me what I have believed and felt for a long time with the two political parties, that we live in a dictatorship country under the guise of Democracy.

    Thank you!

  12. Kay says:

Mr Barrow, Kissing up to your son by bestowing the Ambassador title won’t mend the scars of abandonment. Lord knows who he wants to be because you neither him knows any more. But we Belizeans sure know he doesn’t want to associate with YOU or YOUR name or BELIZE for that matter, especially considering he moved half way around the world to start anew. Give the title to a born and raised Belizean and there are plenty to choose from. We don’t need a deported criminal to represent our music (it’s enough that we got local criminals running the country) enough is enough.

  13. Earl Grey says:

    WHY SHOULD HE BE?????????????????????????????

  14. Earl Grey says:

I NOMINATE ……………….SUPER G……………………… AS THE NEXT MUSICAL AMBASSADOR!!!

HE’S GOT MORE TALENT AND BETTER PERSONALITY……………….

  15. Earl Grey says:

I NOMINATE …………SUPA G……….. as the next MUSICAL AMBASSADOR!!!!!

HE’S GOT MORE TALENT AND BETTER PERSONALITY………………….

SHYNE IS A ………..ONE HIT WONDER.

    NAME ONE SHYNE HIT SONG………

  16. Edith says:

Hell no! He is NOT representing Belize, Belizeans or Belizean Music. He has made absolutely no mention of Belize while promoting himself in Israel. In fact, it has been mentioned that his mother is of “Ethiopian descent” with no mention of his father n no mention of his Caribbean/Central American heritage. I cannot promote him as a Belizean when he refuses to promote Belize as his country of origin, and if he is ashamed to say where he’s from, how can he then promote our cultural music n our young n aspiring artist and their music?

  17. defenitly not 2010 says:

hell no!!!! Why would we want a criminal to represent us??? Hey, when he was interviewed on BBC did he mentioned anything about Belize? Mean PM what the f@$# are you thinking????

  18. True Belizean says:

People like Andy, Mr. Peters, Lelah……. just to mention a few, dem dah real Belize Music ambassadors!!!!!!!!!!!! Get di sence?????

  19. Elgin Martinez says:

    Hell F No.

  20. kim says:

i saw his interview on cnn about his new awarness of himself and not once did he mension the word belize. he is ashame of belize!!!!!!!

  21. Elgin Martinez says:

It’s so ironic that this guy has never identified himself as a Belizean Citizen and yet he was given the title of Belizean Musical Ambassador? It’s obvious that this dude is ashame of his Belizean roots.

  22. rasman says:

Give a real Belizean the opportunity; a roots, after all we have what its take to compete. Look at Andy. This Barrow family rule has to stop. Belize is not for Barrow but for all of us

  23. el alcalde says:

Never could I imagine that a PRIME Minister would go so low!!! ambassador of crack!

  24. Nope says:

Certainly not, it seems that everytime he gives a statement to an international media outlet he never mentions Belize, infact he seems to act as if our country is not a part of him, so why should we have him be a part of us.

There are many more artists that deserve the title over Shyne (for example those seen on http://www.bzmediasession.blog.com). Not just because you “have money” means you are the best candidate.

  25. Cayo Buay says:

I agree with Tina, it was a dramatic back hand slap in the face to all the REAL Belizean Artists that have worked to hard to get where they are and to have this little punk just show up and because he is a Barrow to take the title.

He does not represent Belize in anything he does, he represents himself; just like daddy does.

There are way too many Belizean artists that deserve this title WAY MORE than a deported criminal does. Or have we forgotten that that is why he moved (forced to) Belize.

I say move to the side Moshe, Shyne or whatever your name will be when you read this and let a REAL Belizean Artist take his rightful place.

  26. Ballz says:

Deporteeeee……we all like a local bzn to be the ambassador,Not a deportee what is dean barrow doing?all one happy barrow family controlling bze….

  27. lany says:

Being assigned Music Ambassador to Belize was an end to a meas… Ambassador receive diplomatic passport which should have enbaled Jamal Barrow Entry into the US, however that plan backfired and he is only left with a task that he has no interest in seeing it materalized… Its a pity that Dean can’t be a man and remove his son from doing a task he has no interest in pursuing. Please Dean show some “common sense” and remove Jamal Barrow from being our Music Ambassador… the plan didn’t work. Come on..

  28. Belizean4ever says:

PM Barrow has lately said one of the most stupid comments I’ve heard from him. How dare he say that his son’s music will attract tourists to Belize, that it will be good for Belize, blah, blah, blah. I can’t conceive where this man gets this idea from. Poor PM, he wants us Belizeans to love his son. Truly, it’s only when he committed a crime did I first got to hear that PM Barrow had a son in the US. I didn’t even know about his music and his music is foreign to mainstream Belize. I have asked many youth and 8 out of 10 said that they don’t really like his music.
I believe the PM is trying to make up for the many years he disregarded his son and so makes the stupidest move to make his son “ambassador” Heck, there are well deserving BELIZEAN musicians who better deserve to have been named ambassador. I really hope the PM does the right thing and name a true to the Belizean soil musician as our musical ambassador. Come on PM, nothing that you do will ever erase that mark from your son. Hey, I have nothing against your boy…I don;t listen to his ‘music’, I don’t know the dude.

  29. Belizean Man says:

Look, I never liked shyne, the reason why is because he never ever represented Belize. This man did not even recognize Belize when his first album went platinum. And where did this man do his music videos…..IN JAMAICA. He dont give a damn about Belize, never have and never will. IN ORDER FOR BELIZE TO BE RECOGNIZED AROUND THE WORLD FOR MUSIC, U MUST HAVE A BELIZEAN WHO IS PROUD OF BELIZE TO BE THE MUSIC AMBASSADOR. IN ORDER FOR US TO BE RECOGNIZED, WE NEED A MUSICIAN WHO IS PROUD OF BELIZE AND HE IS NOT. HE INSULTED WHEN HE MOVED TO ISREAL….HOW ARE U GOING TO HAVE AN AMBASSADOR THAT MOVES TO ANOTHER NATION THAT DOES NOT GIVE A !@#$ ABOUT BELIZE. SHYNE IS IN THIS FOR HIMSELF…SCREW HIM, I DONT GIVE A DAMN WHO GETS INSULTED WHEN THEY READ THIS BECAUSE YOU KNOW WHAT, HE CANT REPRESENT BELIZE FOR MUSIC, LIKE I SAID BEFORE WE NEED A PROUD BELIZEAN. STAY IN ISREAL BUT I URGE ALL BELIZEAN TO NOT BUY HIS RECORDS BECAUSE WE DONT NEED A MAN WHO IS NOT PROUD OF BELIZE TO BE OUR MUSIC AMBASSADOR. THATS WHY I LAUGHED WHEN HE GOT DEPORTED. MOSES..LOOK YAH MAN, FI U NAME DAH JAMAAAL BARROW
