Ervin Alexander Reneau, the son of an upstanding Belize City family, was arraigned today for the double homicide in Tuesday night’s mayhem at the Belize Diesel Service Center on the Northern Highway. The forty year old appeared this afternoon before Chief Magistrate Margaret McKenzie. He entered court under escort from CIB officers and was jovial, making jokes to his girlfriend during the proceedings. Reneau was slapped with nine counts: two charges for the murder of Edgar Ayala and David Longsworth, four charges for the attempted murder of Esram Barnett, William Henry, Ursula Longsworth, and Antonio Vellos Medina; one charge for Use of Deadly means of Harm upon Ursula Longsworth; one charge of Harm upon Ursula Longsworth; and keeping a Firearm without a gun license for a nine millimeter. According to a police’s caution statement, on December first, Reneau showed them where he hid the gun in Roaring Creek Village. When he was told his adjournment on the fourth of February, 2011, he asked the chief magistrate what day of the week that would fall on. The judge did not answer but the prosecutor did; it falls on a Friday. Ayala was the first victim in Tuesday night’s homicides. The gunman killed him and took his gun and then pulled the trigger on Longsworth who was refueling a vehicle accompanied by his wife and child. He died shortly afterwards at the K.H.M.H. The images of the senseless murders were caught on the surveillance cameras of the service station. According to Reneau’s record, from 1997 to 2004 he appeared seventeen times before the court for separate offences, including mild offences for traffic violations, obtaining property by deception in 1995, aggravated assault, bound over for twelve months in 1996. He also served three years for firearm and six months for ammunition offences.
“Good family” or not, everyone deserves impartial justice. If he did it, he should receive the same punishment as anyone else. Another huge tragedy, all around.
When you look at the faces of these accused criminals in the news they show no remorse.They seem to be confident that they are going to get off free as is usually the case.It is a very dangerous thing for a small society like ours.These folks are back on the street ready to do the same crime over again,something is wrong with the whole justice system in Belize.
Why is it that criminals in Belize always have a smile on their face when they see camera? Could it be that they know they won’t get the death penalty and time in prison is nothing but a picnic when you have family willing to send you all the luxury’s that freedom has to offer. Prison should be nothing but a dirt floor and a bucket to piss and sh*t in. For food they should have to grow it or eat the shi% in the bucket, and no outside comodities should be allowed. This daag-a$$ has the nerve to laugh and make jokes after he kill innocent people and his stupid a$$ girlfriend is standing by his side after this sh*t….shame!
What is this idiot grinning for? He’s destroyed so many people lives and clearly no remorse. I am sorry son of an upstanding family? Please can someone define an upstanding family. I know every family have a black sheep but I don’t think it help the families who lost their loved ones to hear this. This is a grown man and so I don’t even think its not fair to be hard on his family because they have no control over these acts.
Parents please start instilling values in your children from age 0 and so even the black sheep will know good from evil. He certainly sound like a troubled soul, like a time bomb waiting to go off, with all the various previous charges. No doubt he will recruit Mr Dickie Bradley to rescue him now.

This animal took two innocent people’s life without even a tinge of remorse in his heart, another child fatherless, and it’s future uncertain. I beg the justice system to end this monster life in the same and un-just manner that he ended other lives.
When will the law or the rules change for the animals who commit these senseless killings, how can the GOB sleep peaceful at night, how many more will die before 2011, and when will the GOB learn that the only way to end this madness in Belize is to be just as heartless and cruel to these savages.
It is no longer about right or wrong, and those who do not want to participate in the struggle to uplift, or strengthen their country, should die to save safe it.

Could it be that Castro was also behind this deal approving contracts for Chubby Reneau’s construction company for payment of bribes, I know that Chubby Reneau was doing some work on the Biscayne bridge after the flood also on the western highway working on those culverts that was just after Castro was running around the country pretending to be a hero, is this a coincident or not? Did Castro hired this idiot and made him a supervisor in the Ministry of works as a favor for bribes? What other skeletons are in the Castro’s closet? Inquiry minds want to know.

I am ashamed to say I am a Belizean woman. What is going wrong with our women, this woman have no heart for the two innocent people killed by this man she share her bed with. I guess sex is more important than human decency and other peoples lives. By next year she will have moved on to the next criminal element. She probably knew he was going to pull the roberry, she was at home waiting for the money. Two people dead and he got nothing, sht a shame. Not to mention Boots Martines senseless rant in the news. If we wait for a conviction in Beize, we will remain mute 93% of the time, as we have a lousy 7% conviction rate. This heinous crime was caught on camera. Reneau knows he is going to get family visits and he doesn’t or won’t have to eat the jail food. He knows that he will have t.v to watch,a soft spongy bed new slippers,tennis,shirts,pants,actually he will be living large in the prison. 4 months from now he will gain 7lbs or more. He will have prison officers at the tip of his fingers getting him cigarettes and doing favors for him. And in 4 to 7yrs he will be a free man like any murderer on the streets of belize. What happen tolefe inprisonment with hard labour. I havent heard that being added to sentences for a long time. These guys get life too sweet when they are in prison. Look they dont know the difference between life with or without freedom. To them living in the streets is like living without freedom cause they are hunted like animals to be slain. So it is safer in the prison and besides they are well taken care of – food- bed to sleep daily. For some of these guys, that is better than what they have out here.
Strange thing is, they hurt us the tax payers and we still have to use our hard earned money to maintain them.
I agree, that the prisoners should be taken to farm everyday where they can grow food to feed the country. Let them do something to give back to society. Life is too easy for them in prison.
