Items from bust at Pinks Alley the property of Belize’s CLICO Branch

Remember that huge bust at Pinks Alley on November twenty-fourth when police discovered a cache of computers and electronics that were believed to be stolen? Well, the cops’ suspicions were confirmed late last week when a report was made that the now defunct CLICO Bahamas Office on North Park Street was burglarized in November. The report came from a senior accountant of Baker Tilly Hulse, which is owned by Mark Hulse, the appointed Judicial Manager for Belize’s CLICO branch.  But the items were already in the hands of the police. Four persons were charged for a firearm that was also found in that bust, and Police Press Officer, Sergeant Fitzroy Yearwood says they are now facing additional charges.

“Miss Andrea Lui, the Senior Accountant for Mark Hulse came into the station to make a report that sometime between the twenty-third and the twenty-ninth of November, someone or persons burglarized the CLICO building on North Park Street. She mentioned several items including some monitors, CPUs, keyboards, several electronic items and immediately we—based on the serial numbers that she passed on to us—the detectives at CIB realized that we already have these items in custody because of a house search that was conducted on the twenty-fourth of November at number ten Pinks Alley. We did arrest four persons on a firearm charge and these men are currently remanded at the Kolbe Foundation.”

“Charles Neal, Eston Young, Shane Young and a fourteen year old minor. These men were charged for a prohibited firearm and now they will additionally be charged for burglary.”

Shane and Eston Young along with Charles Neal and a minor appeared in the Magistrate’s Court this afternoon and were jointly charged with Handling Stolen Goods. All four were denied bail and remanded until December thirtieth when they are to reappear for the firearm charges. Kareem Musa, who is representing the four accused, will apply for bail at the Supreme Court on their behalf.

  6. Common Sense says:

    Earl – agree.

Why isn’t there a prison farm in Toledo? Why not start forming chain-gangs to start fixing up things around the country (pot holes in the street, cleaning drains etc). Is it a human rights issue?

Channel 5, can we get a poll on this? Just interested for reasons why this could not be done, and open a conversation on the issue.

  7. Al says:

Everyoen needs some kind of representation, but at some point attorneys need to know when to tell their clients to just own up to their stupidity and take the time. I am sure they are saying not guilty, teh theif fairy put it there. They have an attorney so there is money somewhere to pay for legal representation, probably from another robbery. Two young brothers, where is the mama?

  8. somiah says:

Its always about the money… Money is a tool but when we get into the love of money??? what people won’t do for it…. Well said Al and Earl!
