New Supreme Judge Court Judge for Corozal
A new judge took the oath this morning in the chamber of Acting Chief Justice Samuel Awich. Judge Denis S. Hanomansingh, turned sixty-seven on Monday and has been appointed for a six month period. There was no fanfare and present during the proceedings were the Registrar, Velda Flowers and judges of the Supreme Court, Oswell Legall, Adolph Lucas and John Muria. Justice Hanomansingh is scheduled to begin hearing cases in the Northern Session of the Supreme Court in Corozal where Justice Herbert Lord is currently presiding. His last post was at the office of the Attorney General in Barbados where he was the Principal Crown Counsel. He has also served as Director of Public Prosecutions and Chief Magistrate and has also practiced law in the private sector, both in Guyana and in the United States. The Guyanese born Judge is from Guyana and became a Barrister in London and sat the Bar examinations in the New York.
