COLA in supports the need for freedom of the press

In addition to foreign support from The Heritage Foundation and the Committee to Protect Journalists, a local organization has also trumpeted the need for freedom of the press in Belize. The Citizens Organized for Liberty through Action (COLA) issued a press release this afternoon condemning the government’s decision to suspend normal relations with Channel Five. The release says “COLA is calling on GOB to reconsider its decision to suspend normal relations with Channel Five. This decision in our view will deprive governmental agencies such as the Women’s Department, Youth for the Future, etcetera…of the much needed and often missed publicity. The decision seems impractical and COLA believes that there must be an amicable solution to current situation between Channel Five and the government.”
