Shot 5 times this time and still alive
But prior to Sunday night’s murder another Belize City man was shot. Although Break Dance died from one gunshot, the second victim was shot about five times on Saturday night. Believe it or not, he survived that shooting incident. According to reports, twenty-eight year old Alvin Cumberbatch, a security guard, was standing at the entrance of Trench Alley on Orange Street after eleven-thirty. While standing at the alley located across the street from Extra house, an assailant, from inside a moving vehicle, fired several shots which penetrated his body. Cumberbatch received gunshot wounds to the right and left sides of the chest and also to the upper and lower right thigh. His mother told News Five that he is in a critical but stable condition at the Karl Heusner Memorial Hospital.
According to our records, Alvin Cumberbatch was shot twice in the buttocks in June of 2005 in Taylor’s alley, a few houses away from the alley in which he was shot on Saturday night. At that time, Edward Barahona was charged for shooting Cumberbatch and for the murder of David Vasquez. Since 2007 Barahona has been serving a life sentence for Vasquez’s murder.
I wish him well but he is obviously a marked man.
Two chances, and the next time he might not be so lucky. I hope one day the people of Belize will put down the weapon and learn how to love again, if ever that was so.
Prime target for such area, why would anyone want to be in an alley at that time of night knowing the situation in Bz. I’m not saying you deserved it but, have more sense about your wherabouts.
