‘Break Dance’ murdered, and the motive unknown
The other murder was in the city. ‘Break Dance’ as he was known, was killed on Sunday night. There are no motives at this time but the news of the death is still shocking to the family of the victim. Sunday started as the typical day of rest for most Belizeans including the Gabourel and McDonald family. Sherlette Gabourel had just spoken to her common-law husband Anthony ‘Break Dance’ McDonald, and found out he had been shot and killed a few minutes after their conversation. Gabourel was still grieving when News Five spoke to her this afternoon.
Sherlette Gabourel, Common-Law-Wife of Anthony “Break Dance” McDonald
“Yesterday I was getting ready to go to work. He tell me he want ker food fi eh friends, right. So I tell him alright. So he dish up the food ker ih food fi ih friend. And I get ready for work and I deh downstairs di wait for him to come back to take me to work. But he mi di take long so I call he phone but when I call, I no di get ah. The only thing I hear dah sirens so I said that they must di have parade out there or something. But same time one of his friends came by and they ask me weh ‘Break’ deh? So I tell ahn he gone out and I deh the wait pan ih come before I go dah work fi see ahn first. So he seh jump inna the vehicle because he hear that he get shot. So we gone to the morgue. On the way going we see a lot of blood. They put him in the bed, they ker ahn right away and you coulda mi see mi deh inna di bed and he mi di fight fi eh life, fight fi breathe. That dah all I could tell you. ‘Break’ dah wah nice person. He can go around any block, he could go anywhere. He noh have no beef with anybody, he dah lot of love and everybody know that out deh; he dah harm to nobody. So, whosoever do it, I don’t know who do it, I don’t know the reason why. And like I tell he dah noh wah troublesome person. I don’t know the reason why they do this to ahn, you know. And he forty-six years old. Who could ever want to hurt an eligible man like that? I don’t know why, but we left it in god’s hands and pray and ask the good lord for the health and strength to get over it.”

“Where did you say it happen?”
“This happened at the corner of Dean and Amara—well that dah weh they tell me.”

“What did he do for a living?”
Sherlette Gabourel
“Well, he mi di do wah lee watchman work by the market and ih do construction work, lay tiles, build, oh do carpenter, any lee thing ih know fi do.”
Jose Sanchez
“So he makes an honest living and doesn’t harm anyone?”
“Yes he makes an honest living, he noh harm nobody. He dah wah loving man. I tell you the truth, I will miss him. I will miss him very much. Christmas deh right round the bend. And fi dis fi be my Christmas gift, eh very sad. I don’t know how I will get over it, you know, eh really hard.”
No one has been charged for McDonald’s murder. He leaves behind several children.
No one is safe regardless of age & until the whole community starts turning in the culprits & stop allowing them to hide in plain sight, the slaughter will go on.
Unfortunately when someone gets kill this way in Belize the family members think their family was innocent and had no enemies, but yet they targeted and died by the hands of their enemies.
sherlette l, I wish you well.
I second that BZNinCALI
you don’t need to be a target, just the wrong place at the wrong time. young boys with a gun have no respect for anyone…they feel like kill you, they will…belizeans now need to watch where they thread…no where is safe
