PUP’s Oscar Rosado throws in the towel

On Monday, we reported that Oscar Rosado, had already submitted his name to contest the Port Loyola constituency in Port Loyola when he made the surprise announcement that he was not running and that he was not about to support the PUP. Rosado’s reason was that he was getting death threats. Today, the PUP had its own take. In a release it says that, “the National Executive of the People’s United Party is surprised and disappointed by the decision of Rosado Jr. to withdraw his name as a PUP candidate in Port Loyola and resign from the Party. Oscar has been a tireless servant of the people and a defender of justice for all Belizeans.” According to the PUP, the National Executive also categorically denies any involvement in alleged threats to Rosado and does not condone violence of any kind. It ends by saying that the doors will always be open for Rosado to re-join the Party.
