No one charged for murder of Citrus Growers Association Employee
In San Ignacio, Herman Morris was murdered sometime Friday night. The CGA financial controller was found dead in his vehicle just outside his home, by his housekeeper. The murder has been a particularly shocking one for the community and a post mortem has confirmed that Morris had a brutal death. He died from exsanguinations, which means that he was bleeding profusely both internally and externally from multiple stab wounds. Up to this evening no one has been charged and News Five’s Isani Cayetano found out that the burglar bars of his house had been tampered with.

San Ignacio police are tonight no closer to solving the horrific murder of forty-seven year old Herman Morris despite having interviewed a number of key individuals whom they believed would have been able to provide critical information in cracking the case. Morris’ body was discovered in the back seat of his vehicle on the morning of Saturday, December 18th with multiple stab wounds to the head, chest and chin. He had left work in Pomona Valley shortly before five p.m. the day before en route to his home in the twin towns. According to police reports Morris was last seen alive around seven-thirty that night. What transpired at the residence on Blue Hole Street remains a mystery but it is apparent that his attackers went to work expertly leaving little to no telltale signs of their presence. Evidently he may have made an attempt to flee his killers or seek help but his effort proved futile when his red Saturn Vue rear-ended the wrought iron gate in front of his driveway.
In the wake of this tragedy the Citrus Growers Association, of which Morris was its chief financial officer, has issued a press release urging anyone with information to come forward in assisting with the investigation. Morris had been employed by the organization in March of this year and, according to his colleagues, was exemplary in carrying out his responsibilities. Within that short space of time he was elevated from accountant to CFO and was set to take over the helm of CGA as its new executive director as part of the administrative changes that were contemplated last week. News of the cold blooded murder has stunned the citrus industry; however, a motive for the killing remains unknown. Reporting for News Five, I am Isani Cayetano.
Morris will be laid to rest this Thursday in San Ignacio.
CANTON’S PHONE SHOULD BE TAPPED………………
HE SHOULD BE A …………PERSON OF INTEREST.
RIP HERMAN, YOU WILL BE MISSED
Is it a random crime or a result of gangsterism within the bodies that control the citrus industry?
We have to demand a full and impartial investigation. Follow the money trail!
GOB should really start thinking about bringing in some experts to help them solve these crimes in Belize, obviously Belize does not have people with the proper credentials to do this and certainly is badly lacking in the necessary technology to do so, wonder how this guy ended up in the back seat of his car if he was driving and rammed his car into the fence.
This one will remain usolved – Too many big players involved – Not good for business or politics, should an arrest be made. (Even if an arrest were made, there would be a 99.99% chance of the suspect walking free, as the DPP will ‘accidentally’ lose the case file).
THIS MURDER WILL NOT GO UNPUNISHED…………………..
I agree with Roberts and Rootsman….I think his death was connected to the recent situation there at the company…..
something is not right…somewhere….we need CIA and FBI in Bze..
!@#$%^ HIT!!! THIS WAS A STRAIGHT UP HIT!!! THIS COUNTRY HAS BEEN PLAGUED BY HITS…YET IT NEVER REALLY GETS MUCH PRESS TIME OR SERIOUSNESS OF THIS VIRUS PLAGUING OUR COUNTRY…WE FORGET THAT THESE WHITE COLOR CRIMINALS LIKE CANTON ARE WAY MORE SINISTER AND SOCIOPATHIC THAN THE LEE FOOLS SHOOTING EACH OTHER ON THE STREETS…PEOPLE LIKE CANTON ARE POWER HUNGRY FIENDS AND ARE CALCULATINGLY VICIOUS IN PROTECTING THEIR KING-LIKE STATUS.
GOB bringing in who?!?!? dude, this country has been owned and runned by drug king pins from day one…what, you think the name of the elites in this country made their money by good old fashion hard work? yeah !@#$%^& right, how is it that word all over Southern Belize is that the drugs from the plane was to be taken to the PRIVATELY owned Big Creek port; who own the Port? ……………….., these guys are straight up goddamn drug dealing criminals for decades…anyone ever catch them…yeah, sure….
UNTIL SOMEONE CANNOT TAKE IT NO MORE!!!
BEWARE KILLERS NOT …NOT TO HURT THE WRONG FAMILY!!! SOMEONE WILL NOT BE ABLE TO SWALLOW ALL THAT BS OF SEEING A LOVED ONE BRUTALLY MURDERED & THEN IF …”IF” SOMEONE ONE IF ARRESTED THEY JUST GO GET FAT IN PRISON !!!
BEWARE …JUST BEWARE! THE TIME IS COMING WHEN WE WILL ( OR WE ALREADY ARE?) BE RULED BY THE ONE WITH THE BIGGER GUNS. ALL BECAUSE OF THIS STUPID LAWS THAT WE HAVE!!!! WHENEVER A LEADER`S LOVED ONE IS BRUTALLY MURDERED…THEN YOU WILL SEE SOME ACTION!!!
This brutal slaughter was personal. This will not go unpunished.
I wonder, if we have an operational forensic team cracking this case will be a breeze. However, that technology is far fetch ( that is our reality). It is sad to say most of our crimes can be simply solve by forensic technology, but our government or people( not pushing the issue) not interested in developing such technology and we Belizeans will always be back in technology while others are improving. I wonder when will we ever move forward.
Who are the suspects in this case? In such a brutal murder, that is obviously personal, is the spouse the first suspect? What was there relationship like?
This crime was a crime of passion. A hit is clean. One or two shots usually and/or a slit to the throat. When someone gets stabbed more that 10 times, it is overkill due to rage and anger. Someone hated Mr. Morris for some reason. 95% of all crimes are around the person’s circles. HE WILL NOT BE FORGOTTEN. I THINK IT IS TIME FOR SOME VEGILANTE JUSTICE IN BELIZE. JUST GET RID OF THE WEEDS IN THE COUNTRY. Too many families have suffered and we as a people need to start fighting back. The Bloods, the Crips, the corrupt Police, the government of Belize. Get rid of all of them… BRING BACK PEACE AND HARMONY!!!
Does anyone know whether there is still an investigation into this? Jim was a good friend of mine and I keep thinking about him – he loved Christmas time and he would have had a birthday yesterday.
