Robbery in Dangriga, but suspect’s family says he’s innocent

There’s a new allegation of cops overstepping their bounds. On Saturday, a Chinese business store was allegedly robbed in Dangriga and police say they apprehended one of the robbers shortly after the report was made.  He has been identified as eighteen year-old Glenford Castillo, a resident of Dangriga who was released from the Southern Regional Hospital and handed over to police custody and was charged with Robbery and two counts of Aggravated Assault with a firearm.  The latter charge comes about by an allegation made by police that Castillo pulled a gun at them while they pursued him.  Today, a relative who wished to remain anonymous told News Five that he disputes the police claim.

Voice of: Relative of Shooting Sictim

“I get a call on my phone say you better come because Glenford just get shot. So I forward and see that Glenford is mi get shot. I gone dah hospital and Glenford mi deh pan wah bed with four holes eena ih leg. In respect to a robbery the police them say. So if ih gone rob, yoh shot ah one time. That one shot deh, ih knock ahn down. I noh see why them have to give ahn three more. Then the news Monday say that ih get one shot. The youth get four shot eena ih eg which is unjustifiable.  Really unjustifiable and that then the police back them always covered because then wah police noh wah sink wah next police—ih wah always got wah other police back. So it kinda hard. Then the next day they come up and say they foudnt he weapon. They found the weapon that the youth pointed on them. Now if the youth mi had wah weapon and ih pointed pan them, trust mi deh mi wah kill the youth.”

Castillo’s relative also alleges that elements of the police have threatened Castillo.  He says the family can provide an alibi for Castillo.  But the youth will have to spend Christmas behind bar first because he was denied bail and was remanded until 2011.

Blah, blah, blah shot in the leg three times what a terrible shooter.
Another case of family providing false alibi for family, how can crimes get any better in Belize when families refuse to do the right thing, by turning in their relatives when they commit crimes?

The family have no alibi, the !@#$%^ did it, MERRY CHRISTMAS.

  4. Al says:

This is probably how he helps his family by stealing, so they will protect their ill gotten support. Sad when families for a few dollars will lie and cheat to protect what they know is wrong.
